It's still the wedding season really so hopefully someone will see the reviews and think twice before they book it. It's sad really to see people being threatened with court action when it's nothing but the truth. I guess the truth hurts them. Obviously the reviews that have been put on there have done some sort of damage to his business and thats why he's took out a full page spread and attempted to put some lousy lying reviews on which we can all see through.

But no matter what we're still all here for you when you need us

Thanks Steph. I hope you are right.

anyone noticed the new reviews done on trip advisor- by new members- maybe its me being a bit suspisous (cant spell!)- and they all about weddings- wonder if there staff are writing them?

There is definitely something which doesnt ring true about them but nothing which can be proved.

I thought you had dissapeared off my facebook :( I wondered where you had gone. Don't let him get you down love. Maybe tell him how you feel that you haven't got closure till you know you have saved someone else the heartache.

Beks I am sorry to hear that this is still grumbling on - he has probably threatened to sue TripAdvisor which is why they have taken your posting down.

I have spread the word as far as I possibly can.

I can see both sides of the argument - you want closure which is quite right but your OH no longer wants the fuss and just wants to get on with life, would he be really mad if you did do something? I have a contact with the Daily Mail via one of my mates - they also love something like this.

Thanks Horace, it is much appreciated and I found a comment of yours about The Blazing Donkey on one of my google searches!!!

I have made a little progress with OH and have told him that unless we publicise it, I will never feel like I can move on and forget it. OH said that we can move on because we got our money back but I have now shown him the 'good' reviews on trip advisor and i said to him, we might have our money back but we are not married and still don't have the inclination to get married because I have lost all faith in venues.

What is really worrying him is the threat of being sued because of it but I have reassured him that we can't be sued if we tell the truth (like I have done all along). He is still reluctant but if I can prove that if you tell the truth to papers then you cannot be sued, I might make him change his mind completely. I might just be on to something here but need to find some legal advice about it. :(

The simple fact is that if you tell your story to a newspaper, it is then down to that newspaper to show they are treated the story with due care and attempted to verify all facts before they publish that story. Then the onus is on them, you couldn't be sued but the newspaper could if it was proved they had publish lies. As you have stuck to the truth you are better covered by the law then even posting on the internet!!

Just been catching up on the posts from the last few months, sorry i haven't been around as much as i wanted to since getting married but we've been soooo busy concentrating on other things. Glad to see you have named and shamed, Beks. I have told several people about the venue, one recently is looking for a wedding venue and is considering the bell hotel, i've warned them against the blazing donkey and dog and duck. Couldn't believe it either when i saw the big advert in the paper last week announcing they were celebrating their 1000th wedding!
Sorry about your other half, he should still be sooo proud of himself for everything he has achieved. Keep strong and i'll keep popping back to see the day when you can announce you've booked your wedding. Take care x

just been reading the new reviews - some seem distinctly dodgy, one has reviewed a holiday cottage and their is a weeding photo as their profile pic but apart than that they don't ring true.

i guessed where it was too beks even though i live up north - just had a tinker and a hunt on trip advisor.

If you have house insurance, ppi, card insurance or pay for your bank account then you can sometimes get free legal advice with them. I think I can get 10 phone calls in 12 months or something like that. You could phone them and see what their take is on going public, there are so many places that would print your story as it is public interest.

Did you see the thread on here that said ***** is a really great place I totally retract my comments, other MSErs kept the thread going for pages and pages then kept checking where in google their thread was
