he also recommended we go for additional money due to undue stress ... not sure i want to go down that route, just want the money we paid but its food for thought!
Postman due soon .........
yes yes and yes again for going down the undue stress route - the amount of hassle, time wasted and grey hairs this must have caused (youn know what I mean!) you aught to try and get all you can. Judges know that weddings are stressful so to have someone do this over your wedding - huh! Have a word if you have to sue seperatly for this or if you can go for it all in one go.
Any luck at all tracing the monies and going down that route?I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -
Well feeling a little deflated now ... we have had to write yet another letter to him to tell him we are taking him to court and he has seven days to repond. We are unable to claim for emotional distress in small claims court so would have to do this another way. I am so fed up now, we could be months away from getting a refund and even then it is not guarenteed. We will only get back what we paid and still have to then try and organise our wedding (a July wedding so not exactly a quiet time) and book everything for it.
I am seriously considering watchdog now, totally infuriated with it all.0 -
beks - I'm suprised you haven't written to watchdog already! I used them when we had problems with BT and BT all of a sudden burst into action when we told them in a letter Ann Robinson was going to come round and bite their ankles. (was quite funny actually)
Just think... once you've sent this letter you are nearly there. Have all your documents ready to log your case with the small claims court ASAP so you get the ball rolling.

Tell you what.... why don't you say "please read my thread on MSE" and they might take more of an interest in the story as its already "live". I've got a bit of experience with venues not providing services etc but I'm afraid I cannot really give you any more advice, you've got your head well and truely screwed on.
You're nearly there, don't feel deflated, smell victory getting closer via the small claims court... ***EVERYBODY SNIFF WITH ME*** ..... smells like victory!!I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -
I can only immagine how frustrated you must be, how come he gets another week? Is that what you've been advised? I suppose you have to do everything by the book so that you win your case later. DONE IT - EMAIL TO WATCHDOG HAS BEEN FIRED OFF!!! Can't believe I am going to these lengths - got to keep reminding myself that this is what he has driven us too. H2B has agreed but think he is a little dubious!! Thanks Tizhimi - you're a star!! :T You are the motivation I needed. All the papers are ready for court action too if necessary. Sorry for my earlier rant, just soooooo annoyed!!0 -

Thank you!!! Yes, this is what we were advised by Trading Standards and consumer direct. It is such a longwinded process to do it all properly. It is so annoying as he is obviously not going to respond and it just makes it longer before we get to court. They did suggest leaving it 14 days but he has had nearly 3 weeks already.
Grrrrrrr!!!0 -
Good girl, proud of you, you need get this guy and nail him after everything he's put you through. Nothing you can do to him will hurt as much as the stress he's put you through. If he did this to a client of mine I'd break his legs and I am very impressed how restrained you have been! Dignity and head held high as you are in the right and please please please don't forget that - thats why the legal system is in place, to help people in your situation.
(I know your miles and miles away from me but If I'm working down your area we can go for a coffee and plot!)I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -
I can't believe he gets so many chances to not respond! I admire your patience. Keep it up - you're doing so well keeping your calm, not sure I could! But you are in the right and I'm a big believer in what goes around comes around - I'm positive it will work out in the end and your day will be fab!"Normal is not something to aspire to - it is something to get away from" - Jodie Foster0
