Thanks for all the replies, paticularly the ones who suggest putting names into a hat I think that's a much fairer way to do it! Oh and by the way, she didn't get any of them in the end because ten minutes after her first email I got this... "ARE YOU GOING TO LET ME KNOW OR WHAT?" Seriously some people are just plain rude!

    My goodness!!

You may want to let your Moderators know about this persons attitude. Sometimes it's nice for us as Owners/Moderators to be able to keep an eye on some members who could be trouble for others.
I don't know how old you are, but can you imagine what the effect might be of this persons attitude on an elderly member!

  • When i get a reply like that i check to see what adverts they themselves have put on.If they have given away a fair amount they are more likely to get mine. But if they've posted more wanted ads then it's usually a 'NO' from me.

The is nothing in freecycle/freegle that says you have to give to the first respondant.
Some say they give to the first person who replied with a "please".
I recently gave away a couple of computers, and some of the replies were laughable.
I would certainly not give anything to someone who got too pushy.
On the matter of selling on, that is perfectly alright - when you give something away you are not bequeathing a new family heirloom to the taker, but are simply avoiding waste and asking them to save taking it to the tip for you.
I would generally prefer when I give that the taker has a use rather than wants to make a few quid on ebay, but I cannot impose that condition onto them.
