Someone on mine has offered loads of exciting stuff, like bunkbeds, drawers, new carpets, cookers fridge freezer. I wish i knew someone with a van!!0
-
Mine makes me laugh: never seen a bike on there, (what I really need after mine was stolen) seen many old computers (with a note on them saying "this is an old model/this is from the 1980s/this is NOT a flat screen...). When I first joined, I wanted to ask for a TV, I was told I was not allowed as you could only ask for things like sets of draws and curtains!
One bus ride away, my friend sees it all, people offering pets (which she does not like as she works for an animal shelter where animal cruelty is rife and much because people aquire pets without knowing how to look after them or with any interest after they are 12 weeks old), she also sees requests for laptops, iphones, cars, holidays to the USA....
Chalk and cheese, just because we live in different afreas and different rules apply per different group!
Am very grateful though as on mine, I grabbed a 20" TV after mine broke. The lady even drove it to my home and helped me carry it inside for me!0 -

I have been on the other end of the stick. Went to pick up an low cost item that was a short bus ride away. Arrived at the time we agreed. No one was in, I could see the item on the windowsill inside, and the neighbour told me she had seen a moving van that morning.
When I got in later there was an email that was sent an hour and a half after I had been there, asking if I had been yet and did I still want it, and they would give me their mobile number (which they didn't) as they were busy moving. I politely replied that I had been there at the agreed time and I didn't appreciate being messed about. They would probably do it again. It seemed odd to me that the item had been on the windowsill, behind the curtain so that it was against the glass, in a place that I wouldn't miss seeing it.
Freecycle is great. But people shouldn't let people down. Also goes the other way. Maybe because it's free some people don't take it that seriously0 -

If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0 -
Freecycle has its ups and downs with me (which is to be expected). On the plus side I have received a few things that have been so useful (tv, camping stuff etc) and whenever I have a sort out I know that my stuff will be collected by someone within 24 hours and out of my way! Brilliant.
On the downside, my heart sinks when I receive emails from people with terrible stories about children not having any toys, bed, clothes etc. Women fleeing from domestic violence and allsorts of awful stories. Or very rude emails just asking where I live. Then...when people don't turn up it can be very frustrating. We had someone turn up 7 hours late, very angry because we had given it to someone else!
Once someone came to the house to collect a large item and helped them to the car with it, which was absolutely full of all the stuff they had collected! I don't have a problem with resellers (good luck to them) but it seemed a little greedy that they had asked for so much stuff from people.0 -

Ive never had a single email from freeshare!
only their rules come through every couple of months.
As with the selling things on, we allow that on ours, but the OP states if it can be sold on or not.0 -
