freecycle

Freecycle, anyone heard of that? well, its free as the name suggests and is set up in most towns and cities. It allows people to recycle what they would probably take to the tip (not rubbish). For example, i myself have had off it, free tumble dryer, lawn mower, strimmer, baby stuff etc, you get the drift, infact almost anything, i have even seen cars and caravans on there. Stuff which people replace with new items are offered free to people who may need the old stuff but you cant freecycle rubbish or you can get banned. Join the group (go through yahoo groups and type in free cycle and follow the prompts), if it asks why join freecycle, i just put i think its a good idea to recycle stuff which would otherwise be in the landfill and it accepted me, ad your email to its list and then everytime some wants something or offers something it goes into your email althought you can choose not to do this and just visit the group but i found that you miss out on some good items. Theres no spam or anything like that so no risk just free stuff you may need.

Can't say I've tried it yet though. My brother was telling me no so long ago that people are giving away CRT TV's on freecycle as no one seems to want them anymore.0 -

I was also lucky enough to be gifted a 15" lcd computer monitor, boxed. Have tried it out and it works perfectly.
Last year I was very lucky and was gifted a car :j0 -

Some do try it on with 'wanteds' and you wonder how they have the nerve to ask for such things, but usually I allow the message in if it is legal, as who am I to say they can't ask for it.
Someone out there may have what they want and is willing to part with it.
You do get to know the 'persistent offenders' though, they tend to stick in the mind when you're a Mod.
Most times things are fine. The worst thing is, is when a member fails to pick up an item that has been offered to them. Especially if the Giver has stayed in especially.

NO WAY!!!
Can't you opt out of freecycles emails woodbine?0 -
If your going to collect anything always make sure you bring someone with you when you do. There was a guy stabbed in East London after going to buy a car from someone he contacted through the website Gumtree. So be careful.

Oh Woodbine you cant put up with that!
Log into your Freecycle and go to Edit Membership at the middle top of the screen.
Once in, go to the bottom and you can decide yourself how and where you wish to view the messages.
Most like to have Daily Digest selected, which means you'll get one or two emails a day with all the Offered's and Wanteds nicely tucked there in.
Others like Special Notices only. That way all you get is the occasional message from your Moderators.
It'll only take you moments to fix.
Glad your a 'cycler though!** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0
