  • Does anyone know if are payments will start tomorow as last Monday nothing tax credit today phoned just helpline really
  • I've just checked my online banking and my tax credits is still at one child rather than two for the second week . Even though they told me last week that it would be recalculated and last weeks missing money would be included for today's payment.
  • I've checked minr tax credits have gone in looks like normal money with little extra panic over now just got wait for award to make sure it's correct.
  • So glad its not just us this is happening to!

We notified them back in June my 16 yrs old son was stopping on and was also told nothing would change and a new notification would be sent out. As we had not had a new notification i wasn't entirely surprised to find a greatly reduced payment in on Friday.

I wanted to ask how do you all manage to get through to speak to someone? Every time I've tried I get as far as being told there is a large number of calls and maybe I'd like to call back later, I then get sorry we can't handle your call right now - goodbye! Tried several ways including not saying or pressing anything but still get the phone put down before can speak to a living person. I can't even get into a queue!

Luckily they've put a recorded message at the start of the phone call saying about the reduced payments and they will be sorting it out but I really need to know when the new payment will be starting and also how much it will be. Our eldest son is now 19, finished college and started full time work so he is now off the award. We have another son who is 14 and our 16 yrs old who is stopping on for A levels. We receive ESA support group and DLA/PIP (although that is still an ongoing claim after 38 weeks!) and were getting £162 a week CTC. The payment had gone down to £61 for just our youngest but can't work out how much it will go back up to when they have added our 16 yr old back on. We are desperately trying to budget but as with everyone else this is a hugely expensive time of year now there's a risk the missing payments will be spread out over the year!

Really am at the end of our tether with all this, why can't the powers that be leave things alone. Its causing us so much trouble :(:(:(

Mine hasn't updated yet....apparently a new award is on its way out but on speaking to them, they have the details of the children correct on one system but it is only showing one child on the new award!

    Eeek!

I have been informed that the updating should be finished by the end of today but to ring back Wednesday just to make sure as there were rather a lot to get through this year.

*Bread and water this week then :rotfl:*

Re saving money and having a buffer, that was used in recent weeks for college transport, a repair, extra fuel last week as youngest completely freaked at going on the bus (complex autistic - the college is a 30 mile round trip, twice a day and it soon adds up!) and of course, covering last week's reduced payment.

*Only joking, we have things in the freezer to cover....college will have to wait for their resources amount another week though.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Tenacity....I just kept redialling and trying until I got put in the queue. Took about 6 attempts this morning.

  • Hi all. I also have a 16 year old child who has recently left school and started college this term. I informed CTC three weeks ago that he would be continuing in education (doing A levels). CTC said I would receive a new notification. I never received my CTC two weeks ago so I rang them on my PAYG phone (the call cost my £7) and they said it should go in by the end of the week or be added to the next payment. Last week I never received any CTC so a good friend said I could contact them on her land line. CTC said again I would soon receive it but still no payment today. I also can't afford to ring them again on the 0345 number. Like others we are having to live in credit.

Don't think that 0845 number is HMRC.[/QUOTE] sorry its not my mistake
  • Hi,

I get full working tax credit and child tax credit for my younger son, who is still in education.

When I got my renewal stuff through in June this year, I saw that the award of CTC stopped on the 31 August.
I rang the helpline and stated that he would be remaining in full-time education, going into the 6th form. The adviser told me that he had entered this onto the system, and that my payments would therefore continue unchanged, but that I wouldn't get a new award notice until his status changed from 'child' to 'qualifying young person' in September. I made a note of the date and time and adviser's name in my diary and on the award notice.

I was therefore extremely miffed last week to discover a much reduced tax credit payment into the bank. With the WTC the lone parent element has stopped, and so has the CTC - family element, child element, and disabled child element.

I am down about £150 per week. I rang the helpline and was told that yes, the update was put on the system in June, when I rang, but that the updates are never done until September, and I should not have been told that payments would continue, and no, there's no way they can tell me how long it will take to be updated, and when it is, it will be added to the weekly amount, not paid in a lump sum.

I'm fuming, how are we supposed to plan and budget?

    Growl <rant over>

    Rosemary

I could have written this myself, unimpressed, this didnt happen last year when my son left school to go to college so i dont know why it has now. I am struggling as it is without losing £150 a week.
