16 year old child tax credit stopped

It never happened with my daughters CTC claim when she turned 16, so I am ay a loss as to why it has happened to so many this year. Hers has stopped now as she's off to her uni in 2 weeks. I just hope that it truly has stopped.0

Blondebubbles: so true, they must notice more and become more miffed. I have it paid weekly on a Wednesday so I appreciate the fact that some people are more peeved with a huge drop on 4 weekly. It started updating on 1st so it's only a couple of days for me but I'm lucky I have emergency cash on a credit card. Others don't have this. You can't beat or argue with computers but we have the right complain that there is no prior warning. Every year it happens, this thread been going since 2009, that's almost 5 years and TC have not yet caught on that their system needs updating to calculate much earlier than the week that children go back to school where the money is vital in some cases. I just wish I earned enough to be rid of them. Wages and employers are ten times more reliable than our own government! Very sad indeed. X0

Just need to sound off really - I know there is nothing anyone can help with. If you have 16 year old twins you are well and truly screwed. My weekly payment of £120 was not made at all. On Monday they said I would receive it later in the week. Not had it still today so phoned again to be told I will get new payment as of Monday and this weeks payment will be recalculated over the rest of the claim. The same week I have to pay for 2 bus passes, 2 college deposits etc etc. It's OK though because I'm sure Tesco will let me ''recalculate'' this weeks shopping bill over the rest of the year !!0

Hi all. I want to make u aware that I once again phoned TC to ask for an approximate date after someone had claimed 6 week they waited. Phoned them yesterday and they said many have already been done and sent. I was impressed it was done quickly. Anyhoo, they told me the next payment date which would be Wednesday as usual etc. There is NO back payment for last Wednesday. The way they worked it out is £2 less than what was originally awarded in the first place? They said the missing payment is spread out along with calculations for whatever else I'm getting. How does this work out as £2 less? Nothing has changed apart from a college! I will wait for my new award to drop thru the door and figure it out but it doesn't work out right at all.
I hope everyone gets theirs sorted too but as far as the calculations? I don't know what's going on.0 -
That will depend on how much the award is tapered surely, for instance on a £33k income there would (usually) be no CTC with 2 eligible kids but there would with 3.blondebubbles wrote: »If your payments have stopped altogether this won't be because of your 16 year old. If there are other children on your claim then your payments would just be reduced.0 -
You need to look at the annual amount, they may have overpaid you slightly earlier in the year for whatever reason (eg recalculating on the renewal).brylissian wrote: »Hi all. Call them again-I called this morning because my money was the same lower amount as last week and was told that my award would be lower than last years which was a bit strange-I then rang back and got a very helpful lady who looked and realised they had recalculated and left my 16 year off completely, She has now been added back on and I am to ring back on Wednesday to make sure the payments are correct.Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34
