Can I mention the Punta Cana Princess. This is a small adults only hotel on the superb Punta Cana beach. The a la carte restaurants are super (no reservations required) and the buffet was very good too. You can also use the facilities of the two sister hotels but the guests there cannot come into the PCP. I have been to this hotel twice.
I have been to the DR over a dozen times in the last ten years. I have not been to Excellence but the reviews are, well, excellent.
We liked the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus and went there on successive years. The Iberostar Costa Dorada was not really to our taste. The beach is not that great but the trouble was it was full of Brits and their kids, if you know what I mean. We would not return to that hotel.0 -

Hello
I am very lucky that i am going to the Dominican Rep on the 3rd April, never been before so trying to trawl the Internet for loads of info but thought you lot are more friendly and might able to help me, Ok hereOkh me :rotfl:
1) was going to try and grow my hair but now thinking i would be best with it short as, i read that as soon as you dry your hair it is wet again because of the humidity.
2) would it be safe for me to take a lilo for the sea.;)
3) can i get my legs waxed whilst i am there & what is the cost ?:o
4) Do i need to take towels for the beach.
5) is there toilets on the beach are they better than them in Goa:eek: as that's the only other place that's have been to on long Haul.
6) Can i buy a sim card while i am there to use, Will this work out cheaper for me to use ie text , ring home if need be.
I am sure there will be other things i need to ask but did not book till last night so heads doing somersaults:rotfl: i really hope you do not mind me asking other things later, If there are any tips you can tell me please do no matter how small.
We are staying at IBEROSTAR PUNTA CANA as anyone else stayed here!

I didn't have that problem
2) would it be safe for me to take a lilo for the sea.;)
I haven't, but others do - the sea is not dead calm
3) can i get my legs waxed whilst i am there & what is the cost ?:o
Expect you can - I took wax strips with me
4) Do i need to take towels for the beach.
No, they supply blue towels for the beach - refundable deposit is required 10 USD (you can get them changed for clean ones as and when)
5) is there toilets on the beach are they better than them in Goa:eek: as that's the only other place that's have been to on long Haul.
Yes, there is a toilet block on the beach opposite the swimming pool + more loo's at the steak house on the beach
6) Can i buy a sim card while i am there to use, Will this work out cheaper for me to use ie text , ring home if need be.
- Don't know, sorry.

Roll a towel up and push it up to the bottom of your door at night - will stop any wandering gecko's from sharing your room

Good tip, I will remember that one.
DH likes them, but I can't stand them.
What if they get into your room while you are at dinner?
I had a praying mantis in my hotel room in Sharm:eek:0 -

LOL, I haven't come across a man eating one yet :rotfl:- they are quiet cute.
Keep in mind, although you are permitted a certain amount of visits to the themed restaurant's, there is an American diner there and you can go as often as you like ( or you could when we were last there), the food is fab and unlike the main dining room it has air con.
- also, they do a lemon slush, it's lovely with a splash of vodka
Its quite a big place, take some time to have a walk round and book the themed restaurant's asap after your arrival. Although you wont be able to use the facilities in the Bavaro, you can use both the Punta Cana and Dominicana.A fairer CSA for all0 -

We only saw them after it had rained and OH managed to catch the one in our room - expect reception would assist.
