Not Puerta Plata spent 2 weeks in jan fab hotel with beach very small area but we prefer the pools anyway sea is very rough on that side of the island
We upgraded flights with 1st choice not worth the money in my opinion wouldnt bother if it was a charter flight again screeming babies and obnoxious people who thought they were something better as they were 1st class (sorry have a bit of a thing about screeming babies on planes )

The North coast beaches are on the Atlantic Ocean which is why the sea isnt calm and the sand is golden.

The East and South coast are surrounded by the Caribbean Sea so the sea is calm. I don't think you'd be disappointed with beaches on either of those coasts. Have a look what hotels you fancy and base your decision on that.

Mrs E , i spent ages looking online at different hotels and looked up tripadvisor on hotels as well
the thing that swung it apart from price was that you can visit 3 a la carte resturants each week :j

    It does look really nice:D

So thats 6 nights a la carte & 8 buffet in 2 weeks, you could do buffet/a la carte/buffet/a la carte, so you didn't eat in the buffet two nights running:D (except once:p).

    You seen these Janie?

I'm going to sound really fussy here, but I don't read anything about a coral reef, I know there is one in the northern resort are there any other coral reefs in DR?
