A jar of pesto , sun dried tomatoes, bit of grated cheese on top.
Celery, apple, mayo,walnuts.
Goats cheese broken into chunks (crumbled really), red pesto.
Artichokes in oil, feta, olives.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Cold pasta is my favourite thing
!
I prefer to put the sauce on warm but considering trying it cold to see if that does stop it sticking together... thanks alfsmum!
I've yet to manage to get the same consistency as the shop ones... but a favourite of mine is simply a bit of pesto! Simple but tasty... but basically anything you'd have warm will work cold (except spag bol mine always seems to go weird...)
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -

Pixtotts, to stop pasta (and noodles/rice) sticking together after cooking, rinse it off with hot water to wash as much of the starch off as possible.0 -
Prawns, Pasta and marie rose sauce are simple and a match made in heaven.
you need cooked prawns (if using frozen ones defrost then DRY them well). your cooked pasta - I too add the other stuff while its still a bit warm) and your marie rose sauce. you can buy it but its so simple to make yourself!
marie rose sauce
one third Mayo
one third Tomato ketchup (not puree)
one third Salad Cream
salt and pepper and you can add a couple of drops of Worcestershire sauce.
combine all ingredients! taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
all my grandkids know how to make this - they call it 'Pink Sauce'.0 -
Lovely cold pasta (and cous-cous)! Good, cheap and versatile... One of my favourites too.
Here is what my favourite recipe finder came up with for pasta - http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/search?keywords=pasta&x=-1063&y=-240
It shows hot recipes as well, but loads of these are just as good if cooked and allowed to go cold.
As a preference, in summer, I love pasta with fresh sliced cherry tomatoes, torn Italian mozzarella (Sainsbury's value one is perfectly good from my meagre budget's point of view, not vastly different to the more expensive choices), couple of good glugs of extra-virgin olive oil, some basil or oregano (dried or fresh) and some fresh-ground black pepper. Yumyumyum...
Hope your OH appreciates your efforts (and how lucky they are to have you, of course) Samx

I'd chuck a good pinch of paprika too along with maybe a dash of lemon juice.0 -
If you're going to add the sauce whilst its hot make it a touch looser than you would if you're eating it hot. Most sauces tend to thicken when cold.
Or make up more of a relish-type sauce with cherry tomatoes, spring onions etc. More chunky bits, less sloppy stuffSealed Pot #355 - £162.29 (£150 banked) / £355 46%

This is making me hungry. I love pasta salad, pesto is my favourite but I love pasta salad with roasted peppers, olives, red onion, and sweetcorn with a simple vinegar or lemon juice dressing in the summer.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
