Disabled Parking Rant!!!!!

Other people on this thread have tried to imply that their is some legal barrier to anyone parking in a disabled space. (in a private car park) There is not - simple. So everyone has the "right" to park there. Whether it offends the morals of others is another matter.
Not sure why you feel that by pointing out the facts that you need to state. "flogging is to good for you""A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

My parents taught me right from wrong. There is no law to say one ought to give elderly, disabled or a pregnant lady your seat on the bus - but some of us know it is the "right" thing to do :A You ought to be ashamed :rotfl:
I should be "ashamed" for pointing out that people do not need to pay companies that try to extort monies from them?0 -

No, you should be ashamed for preventing people like me going shopping.
For me, and many like me, if there is no disabled place at the supermarket, I have to give up the idea of shopping. For able-bodied people it is mere convenience to use the disabled bay.
I struggle to lead an independent life. Doing my own shopping is a part of that. It is really sad that some people feel that to save themselves a few minutes walk, (or sometimes to avoid paying in a carpark) they feel justified in taking away the small degree of independence that i still have.:(0 -

In what way do I prevent you from going shopping?
All I have done on this thread is to highlight the un-enforceability of so called "fines"
I have tried not become involved in the moral debate.0 -

You ought to be ashamed for not knowing right from wrong. It is "wrong" anyone not displaying a blue badge to park in a parking spot reserved for disabled. You should be flogged for being a troll. :rotfl:I have tried not become involved in the moral debate."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

You said everyone has the "right".
It is not legally wrong for anyone to park there - so in that sense they have a legal "right".
I am perfectly aware of right and wrong, and one of the things that is wrong is companies trying to extort money from members of the public.
Or do you think that is "right"?0 -

That is complete nonsenseTwo wrongs don't make a right. :rotfl:
Have YOU parked in a spot reserved for disabled badge holders, without displaying a blue badge?
Do YOU agreee, that it is "wrong" for anyone to park in a spot reserved for disabled badge holders, without displaying a blue badge?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

One is a legal issue the other a moral one.
I have never parked in a spot "reserved" for disabled drivers and neither would I do so as I have no need.
I believe that measures should be put in place to restrict their use to those people who genuinely need to park there, however I object strongly to companies acting in a cavalier fashion using bully boy tactics to rip off members of the public when they have no legal right to do this.
Or do you think this right? (as I asked previously)0 -

I would like to see something in place, but.....what.. thats the question here i think, bullying is wrong, but there are some people that don't care what they do, they will park where they want to (no accusing anyone) ie the taxi driver Saturday... wasn't a disabled taxi, had no one disabled with them that i could see, didnt have a badge.. how would he be asked / deterred from parking there again?Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -

I have posted a couple of suggestions earlier, but disabled bays could have a separate staffed entrance, only accessible to those with blue badges.
Legislation could be enacted to make it illegal for cars without blue badges to park there. (there is a link from another poster showing proposals in Scotland to do this)0
