Overcharged by £2 for P&P what can I do?

I bought something off ebay which i arrived today.
I am happy with it but I paid £4.50 for P&P and it actually only cost £2.70 to send. It was posted in a plastic bag which I doubt would of cost the remainder of the P&P charge.
I looked again at the item description etc and the seller isnt one of those that states that they also charge you for their time, petrol to get to the p.o., for the extra air they breathe whilst posting it etc etc but I am a bit miffed that they've nearly doubled the charge.
Anything I can do?

not really. you could try to email the buyer and see if they will give you a partial refund but they're fully justified not to. Although I don't like the sound of the packaging - I'd mark them down on the stars, perhaps.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

overcharging p&p is one of the things i most hate, but ive come to realise that a lot of sellers are now doing it but when i bid for an item im agreeing to the postage cost. I bought something last week with £3.00 postage arrived yesterday, cost a large letter stamp to post - so i just left 1 star for p&p.0

thanks, i mght send them a message and see what they say. they can only say no.
i think ill just have to mark down the stars0 -
It is annoying, as as a buyer you dont know how much an item might cost to post and when its seller standards rate, you also dont know how its going to be sent either.
I wish ebay would get rid of sellers standard rate and make a seller put which service they are actually using
Its sellers overcharging postage thats contributing to the free postage cats.
You could ask seller for £1 partial refund, maybe they didnt realise how much it would cost to post/ that they overcharged you by so much?0 -
Technically you weren't overcharged (sorry to split hairs) as you new the price originally. Postage isn't just the price of the postage it includes a reasonable amount for packing. Almost a 50% markup I do not see as reasonable though. I personally would just severely mark them down on there stars but you can always mention it to the seller and see if they offer a partial refund.
As to those who will say to you you new the price when you bid on the item (Hi C***L). Most buyers do not know how much the item will cost to post with a reasonable packing fee on top so buyers are within there rights to complain when they realise the real cost. Also those who say that you should just accept it as you new the cost are probably the ones ranting and raving about the FREE P&P in certain categories. Well severe overcharging is the reason why this was brought in. So they only have themselves to blame if they don't like it0 -

I also you think you should stop whining about a contract you agreed to. If the seller had put the extra cost in the item cost you would have paid more overall ..... Think about it.0

No ebay didn't think "how can we increase our revenues without !!!!ing too many people off ?" I know well charge the FVF on the postage cost and well get extra insertion fees too .
No ebay really cares about it's buyers honestly!0
