:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I was joking! Is Tomato actually a name:eek:
One question though, why would she have the soup of the day on a tag round her neck:rotfl:

Right, this is probably going to make me sound crazy, but none of you guys know me in 'real life' so I figured that doesn't really matter.
This is one of those things were the more I think about it the more it's really annoying me, I probably won't end up doing anything about it but I just need to get it off my chest. I know it's petty but ARGH!!#
Right, few years ago, me and my best mate were discussing kids names we liked, no particular reason, none of us were expecting. I said I really liked this name, fast forward a couple of years, friends pregant, guess what she called the baby?? Yes, the name I told her I loved. I had gone off it by then (pretty chavvy now really) so although I was a bit peeved, I didn't really say anything to her.
Fast forward another couple of years, my friend is pregnant again. This time, she's calling her baby after my cat which died last yearIt's peed me off more this time 'cos she knew how gutted I was when she died, I'm only 20 and she was my baby, I've no intentions of kids for a couple of years yet. She's due next month though and the thought of calling her baby that is really freaking me out
It isn't just coincidence either!
I know this is petty and totally a girl thing but I need to get it off my chest.
I want to say something, but I'm thinking that's probably a bad idea.
Am I totally pathetic?
I think I'd be annoyed as well. I think you'll just need to get used to the fact that your friend obviously has no imagination so needs to keep stealing your ideas for names! I suppose you should be flattered by her behaviour in an odd sort of way!....2022 wins include.... £1,000 cheque £150 ASDA gift card £250 Impericon gift voucher £100 cheque £100 of plant bulbs £100 Bower Collective voucher0 -
Oh boy this thread has had me in stiches, my dh keeps looking at me oddly as well, it doesn't really work when you have to explain it!!
Thanks guys xxx
To the op I am with you on this one I would be a bit peeved if it happened to me. You should maybe come up with a name (not tomato, lettice or cucumber lol!!) and tell her you really like it and see what she does!!
.........so what's your cat called?"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Yes I think we do need to know OP's cat's name - I hope it's not too much of an anticlimax as this thread has really amused me!
Although on a serious note - what another poster said earlier about people giving a lot of thought to what they call their children. Having heard some of the names some of my (formerly presumed intelligent) friends have doled out to their poor progeny, Little Baby Lettuce wouldn't be that bad.
Tee hee I've set myself off again - I think I'm over tired!0 -
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
OP - when people do things like that sometimes it isn't conscious - it's because you have more influence over people's minds than you know.
I think I would point out that she is in danger of naming her child after your dead cat; and leave it at that.
My best friend named her daughter after my niece; it isn't a common name, but it is Welsh as is she. And my niece. i thought my niece was the only one but since then I have seen lots of little girls with the same name.
I think of my niece when I see the name, and that is enough to make me smile.
Not as much as calling a child Lettice though. Brilliant.:rotfl:0 -
What the hell happened here! Just had a flick through, will have to read again when I can actually keep my eyes open! Glad you've all had a good laugh anyway
I know it's no big drama, but you know when something just builds up to be something quite big in your head... Or maybe that's just me. I just wanted a sane persons opinion.
My cat was called Lexi. Hence the username! No Lettuces or Radishes I'm afraid.
She text me something about it earlier on, which got me thinking about it again, which made me post. I did reply to her saying something along the lines of 'To be honest it just reminds me of my dead cat'.
Suppose I'll leave it at that, just a bit strange if you ask me, all our other friends think the same. I even suggested buying her a baby names book so she could look at other names and think up some herself instead of just choosing the first one she hears from somebody else, but apparently she hasn't got time to read it :rolleyes:
