:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I was joking! Is Tomato actually a name:eek:
One question though, why would she have the soup of the day on a tag round her neck
:rotfl:
Apparently it is a name!! We couldn't work out why she would have the soup of the day round her neck, but equally didn't believe tomato was a name until she introduced herself!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I had several names for my children, but one I liked just didn't work with our surname. So I have used it for our cat instead.0

OP,
I recognise your frustration at your friend's choice of name, even if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I know of a teenage 'Lexi' who is fed up of her name - she gets called 'Sexy-Lexi' & 'Dis-lexi' (she'd made a spelling mistake') etc etc
Speaking generally, name choosing is a very emotive subject. I was very upset when DH suggested a name for imminent DD... that of his old girlfriend. He claimed he had 'forgotten' :rolleyes:.
Re 'Bitty'... where MiL lives their accents are quite strong, so she is called 'Botty' by her friends

i have 2 boys, my first son is called a traditional irish name, a few years after he was born my cousin (who i personally dont see but we have a close family between us) named her son the same name but spelt it a bizarre way. I then had my second son, she then had her second son and gave him the same name (which is a family surname apparantly)
It did pee me off but we are no where near each other and the only problem arises when my nan talks about the boys.

If you're from an Irish family, then you probably have the same problem as my OH - half his family are Christened one name but known by another. Makes things very confusing!They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

My friend is from an irish family. She is called Mary (known as Ann) Her sister is called Mary, known as Mary, her other sister is called Mary... known as Tina... the mother is called... yep you guessed it Mary, also known as Mary.
The problem is that I first knew my friend as Mary because she was in a job where her name on her birth certificate was used. It all gets really confusing.:A
