We still have a tiny 25+ year old caravan we keep in Cornwall Taxi - it serves for a cheapo holiday and is basically a place to sleep. These days because there are only the 2 of us we eat out or bbq when there so life is as easy as you want to make it. It was great when the kids were young as we just took off with kids and dog toboot. But it is getting shabby now and we could make better use of the space inside -a lot is wasted by the bed the kids used to have - a dumping ground now. I've earmarked the new van I'd like now all I have to do is rob a bank or win the lottery for 14grand. One day... Taxi... one day..............;) ............but 1st I need to get rid of 3 1/2 grand debt.........which has indeedy come down from around £20,000 which I never thought I'd get rid of.........so IT IS within the realms of possibility!!!!January spends - £587.580

It's been about 5 years getting down to that figure Beanie - It came to a head when I was in intensive care after major surgery and in my lucid moments I was more worried about the debt than my health - I knew I had to do something about it. It was the wake up call I needed, payment protection paid the loan and cc payments for the year I was off work and I still managed the minimum payments on top then once back at work I've juggled and paid bits extra here and there (but I'm only a TA in a school and dh works in a shop so no big bucks coming in) - Yep the last bit is all on 0% cc, about a year left on it I think. I was too worried to even total the amount at one stage, I had loans and credit cards - it was in excess of £20,000. A big SCARY debt to me, but not as big as others have got rid of I know, but like everything it's all relative to earnings. It's been the help I've had on these boards that has kept me motivated - but I didn't know about the site in the early days, just knew I HAD to change things. THE END is is sight - not sure I did the right thing changing to a job with fewer hours resulting in less pay though last year....mmmmmmmm..... You are right though Taxi - the tunnel is getting shorter.

It doesent matter how long it took but the fact you got there
So pleased for you that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
But you enjoy this job better dont you?
So a reduction in income is well worth it.

Beanie - Yes, I love my new job, challenging and rewarding, but poorly paid!! I feels as if I have done lots of training with 2nd job, which will be paid once I've completed everything they state and I have my 1st 2 hours work session on Thursday, then a day so far during half term holidays. I think there will be hours for me, problem is, I should do a 2 day induction course too before they start me working for them, but I couldn't attend the course because I was working in school - which 2nd job knew about - so WHY ask me to attend during term time????????? I used to work with one of the managers there years ago and she is eager for me to start without this induction - but it is company policy. She says (and has told her superiors) I already know the stuff in the course (no pressure on me then LOL), so I am in a funny position of being offered a few hours without having completed everything - I have tried to cover myself by saying I'm willing to do hours offered to me as long as THEY realise I haven't completed training they have previously said is essential. I am a bit wary of refusing flatly as I know of others who have said no to work and not been offered any other work. I have no intention of doing too much either - a couple of sessions after work and few days each holiday would do me nicely. Thats the beauty - it's as and when with no obligation, but I do know you have to say YES initially until you are established then can be a bit more choosy. Will see how it pans out - I'd love to clear that debt before the 0% ends.
But I need my teeth to behave and not keep having to pay dental bills for that to happen!! My crown has had several visits in my pocket rather than my mouth back to the dentists (this has been going on since last April) - he has said now that it can't be refitted permanently as the root has so many fractures in and he'd thought about a permanent bridge then decided that the rest of my teeth are too crumbly to fit one onto. So he has suggested FALSE TEETH - I have several gaps where there were once teeth - so he is going to put a tooth where the crown was and fill in the gaps too!!! For some silly reason this really got to me - and everytime I put tv on there is an advert about false teeth pastes and cleaners - I am actually laughing about it all now - but a couple of weeks ago when he told me I was horrified - I'm not vane - so why should this bother me so much - it'll probably even look better than gaps at the back of my mouth. So that will be £195 - at least my appointments are spread out over a few weeks to fit in after school - so I spread the cost a bit. Not looking forward to having the root taken out though!!!
Weighed myself today and lost 3lb, dh lost 2lb - battle has commenced!!!!!!
Off to watch a dvd - Mulholland Drive - never heard of it but will give it a go.

This week has flown by - been swimming, to aqua arobics and Tai Chi, so feel as if I've had value from gym subscription this week. Had a couple of goes on Wii fit too. Lost another 1lb - slowly but surely is the way to go
However that may well be undone - went to Liverpool and did about an hours worth of walking along Mersey in sunshine - all good you might be thinking............then ATE for England in buffet restaurant - there were dishes from all around the world on offer - it would have been RUDE not to try a bit of each and get value for my money LOL - I felt so fuuullll afterwards. Had intended another long walk today but it's piddling down. Will make up for it during the week - at least dh ate more than me - so I might beat him on weight loss this week LOL
Got another 2 hours with 2nd job this week and then am working 2 days of half term - every little counts!!
Have registered my gas and electric with nectar to get points and enquired about cavity wall insulation - so feel as if I've done a bit on mse front tooJanuary spends - £587.580
