Had a phone call telling me mi sil passed away this morning - head says it's for the best for her and her kids - heart will miss her, as it has for several years already.

It's been a hard week or so with the funeral and emotions that surround these things.......... but onwards and upwards.
I had a bit (LOT) of a splurge and treated myself to some tops and jumpers from Matalan - I'd only gone in for a top to wear to the funeral and ended up spending over £120...so it undid some of my good deeds on the cash front over the Christmas period, but I'm pleased that I got value for money and am going to enjoy wearing them. I think they have given me the feel good boost I needed. Better not let it happen again for a while though.
I'd been debating going back to weightwatchers, but have got dh onboard and as of today am upping the exercise and watching the food intake!! I re-set my wii fit to erase all my past attempts at toning down and the idea is to do a half hour each day (both of us) - we erased all the game records and have had fun today beating each other tho the top of the leader boards. The £4 I'm saving by not going to ww is being put in a sealed pot and I've worked out it's about 16 weeks until I go to Cornwall. I would like to lose about a stone and a half - maybe 2 stone, but I'd be happy if I can shift over a stone before I go away. I'll crack open the pot when I get to a stone loss for some nice holiday clothes - it should be doable at just over a pound in weight a week!!
To add interest and keep to my idea of getting out and about a little more than previously - we have a wager that the one with the least weight loss at the end of each month treats us to a meal out (mse style of course!!) I like a challenge LOL
It was my ds birthday yesterday and we had a meal out - it was in a country pub right out in the wilds - I was a bit disapointed in my steak - I had better at Wetherspoons last week for half the price. But it was a good day overall.
Hope the 1st month of 2011 has been a good one for you all.

Good for you having a splurge.
WW is quite a bit different now..it's quite hard to explain it as the two don't interlock.
on the new plan you get a daily allowance plus a weekly allowance on top at 49 points...you can use the weeklies on a night out or each day.
you cannot save points from one day to the next,
fruit is free and nearly all veg is free.
you can earn exercise points as well.0 -
Well I'm pleased to say I have lost 3lbs this week so far - not too pleased to say it's been because I've had the tummy bug from hell!!! I lost count, but I know it was over 7 - the amount of time I was up and very sick during the night on Wednesday and have been exhausted since - just beginning to eat a bit again this evening. It's been going around at work so I supposed my turn had to come. I have to admit I panic when I get tummy problems as I always wonder if it is 'just' a bug or my old tummy problems re-occuring - I'm pleased to say though - since I started the new treatment over a year ago all has been well. Just hope I haven't tempted fate there LOL.
I was watching a programme about Bonnie Scotland last night Beanie and we reminded ourselves that we want a brand new caravan so we can tour some of the beautiful places around when we retire - which is of course still YEARS and YEARS and YEARS away - of course we might win the lottery so we can do it in posh hotel style and then add in a couple of world cruisesHad a couple of brill hols when the kids were little in an old caravan in Monifieth near Dundee, very MSE as it was owned by a charity and we hired it for something like a tenner a week LOL. We had no car in those days either but managed to have a great time - funny how times and our expectations change without us (ME) realising it!!
WW certainly sounds different this time round Taxi - it seems to be working for you.
