congratulations on the job.
enjoy your visit0 -
Went into Manchester and spent the grand total of £3 - that was on a sandwich and a drink. Not sure what has into me - I walked around several shops and couldn'r find ANYTHING I wanted at all not even in Primarni - maybe I've learned the MSE lesson tooo well.
Had a lovely visit with my SIL - a long chat putting the world to rights - did me the power of good.

I know it's amazing how we learn not to spend money on stuff we don't really need or want.
glad you managed toput the world to rights with your SIL.0 -
I've had a bit of a funny old weekend.
Yesterday I went out with DS - we went to investigate at Liverpool 1. I was very impressed - again though I didn't spend too much in the shops - £3 in pound shop:) I briefly looked at clothes but I don't know what's got into me I can't see ME in a lot of the things out there at the moment. But I treated us to a nice meal out in a Tapas bar - that run in at £30 but my frugal days of late have allowed for the occasional luxury now and again. We walked along the Mersey in the sunshine and had a really good day.
My friend since reception class lost her dad in September. I had only just started the new job though and didn't feel as if I could ask for time off so we decided we'd go to the cemetry and then go out for dinner to celebrate his life at another time. Today was the day - so we headed off to the cemetry - it's quite eerie that our parents graves are only a few plots away from each other even though there were a couple of years between our mum's passing, when we were both teenagers. So I went to my parent's grave for the first time in a very long time and then went to friends parent and left flowers at both. We celebrated by having a lovely Sunday lunch out and chatted and laughed about his life and the daft things we used to do. So it was a rather bitter sweet day but it was special and in a strange way was better than going to the actual funeral. I bought dinner for us - so probably as well I have been fairly frugal of late.
Back to work tomorrow - a training day with no children. I will use the last of my freezer this week and then do the big shop I've been threatening for a couple of months - my freezer cook offs have been never ending!!!!!! That should take me nicely to Christmas.
Does anyone know if Morrisons are doing the vouchers they did last year running up to Christmas the last couple of years - I think you had to spend £40 for 5 weeks or was it £50 for 4 weeks then you got vouchers to spend?

sounds like a day full of memories and reminiiscing.0

Thanks Beanie - yes Taxi - it was a day of memories but we had a good day and have said we will make a habit of going out more for 'girlie' days - we just need to make time LOL.
Just been talking to dd about Christmas arrangements - if all goes to plan and we get all concerned parties to agree - should be a good yearJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Just looked on Morrison's website and it is starting on 8th November - £40 spend for 5 weeks and then a £25 voucher to spend at Christmas and then something about a £5 voucher to spend in the January too.
I have changed my plan about a massive shop this week sometime - will pace the shops into £40 a week to get the vouchersJanuary spends - £587.580 -
Had a busy and expensive weekend here - it started off well with a free firework display at the Trafford Centre and a shared take-away once back home.
Then on Saturday we were doing more of the garden and redesigning a bit of the railway my dh has - we needed a couple of bags of topsoil to fill a rockery we are adjusting - we bought 5 expecting to have too waaayyy tooooo much - a tenner I really didn't want to part with because you don't really see it - not like buying a pretty plant or something - we went back and bought another 5 today - another tenner and will need more again!!!! - we get a fairly good deal from a place nearby which sells mainly reclaimed stuff for gardens so works out cheaper than garden centres, but now I know where my cash has gone to in the past!!!!!
I treated my dh and son to a lovely meal in Manchester on Saturday as it is dh's birthday tomorrow. Expesive at £25 each but well worth the money for a special treat. Kids have bought dh building kits for his train track - so today was spent in the garden plotting and planning where they will go once built.
I knew it would be an expensive time and have modified my spending to accommodate this - something I would NEVER have done at one time. SO I am learning this money managing stuff and not before time either!!
