Yeah - makes us put things into perspective - here's me moaning about a bit of dull weather and rain when things like the coach crash happen in horrendous weather with such awful consequences.
Had a couple of friends over for the day yesterday - they spent 12 hours with us but it flew by. I fed us all but because they are such good friends was all very relaxed with easy food, easy chat and lots of laughs. The fellas ended up playing trains and wiring signals and things up whilst us ladies got a packet of fimo modelling putty out and messed about making miniature food for the shops around thr track. I was in my element and must have spent a couple of hours making miniature mushrooms - sad but very relaxing!!!!!
I had intended going over to my bestest friends since schooldays today to help her decorate - her dh passed away a couple of years ago and she has completely changed her life since. She has recently sold her house and bought a smaller one - she is doing it up on a very tight shoestring budget - so my intention was to go over and paint today with her. Buuuttt.... dh has just taken a phone call from my brother who is on his way over ... - so I won't be going anywhere for a while. It will be good to see my brother and his wife though - we only live about 10 miles away and should really make the effort to more of each other.
Have a lovely Easter weekend.

My brother came and brought me a couple of coffee tables he knew I liked and he was getting rid of - they look quite good in my lounge
so I have off loaded my old ones on my friend who will re-stain them to match her new room. Had a lovely time emulsioning her bedroom and lounge - carpets are being delivered on Tuesday - she has a lot to do before then. Went over about 2pm and haven't been in long - sat and ate pizza on her ladders lol - brought back memories of when our kids were little and we helped each other decorate whilst all the kids played together - I'm nicky-nacky-nood now though. I'll sleep well tonight

What lovely days you're having - they sound fun and productive at the same time!
DS aged 18 nearly 19 came home last night, and in the car on the way back he asked if I'd kept him any tea - I hadn't because the plane was so very late back and thought he'd have eaten, and he said any chance of making him 'eggy soldiers' :rotfl:as he wanted 'a change' - what a blast from the past that was! So I stood in the kitchen buttering bread and cutting up soldiers and that took me back so many years. There was something really sweet about him coming home and wanting 'nursery food'. Sorry to hijack your diary but when you mentioned about your friend and how it brought back memories it reminded me..

That's not sa hijack CBM - feel free to remember and chat away on here. Shows the things kids remember though doesn't it - it's not alway the expensive things in life. Did he enjoy them??
I've just been eating a sweet and my tooth has sheared right off :eek: - I very nearly swallowed it too. It's not sore at all but it feels like there's an enormous crater in my mouth - it's at the front too so must look awful - I haven't ventured near the mirror. My teeth are generally rubbish - it's all part of a condition I have affecting bone and collogen. I'm lucky that I haven't had too many fractures but my teeth have suffered over the years. Been meaning to book in for a check up at the dentist - will have to now  - I'm covered by HSA for £70 but dread to think how much this will cost. Ah well - not so easy come, easy go 'rolly eye icon needed'.
DS coming round tomorrow - must go and get meat out of freezer - beef lollies don't sound too good.
Have had another lazy day catching up in soapland - Corrie and Doctors could be worse I suppose - I got hooked on doctors when I was off work and have recently rediscovered it on Iplayer. Have never watched Eastenders but can never remember not watching Corrie - think it's more habit than anything else now

What a wonderful couple of days you have had...good friends and good company sounds perfect x
CBM..it's amazing when grown ups want what they had has kids and lovely...very true that they remember some of the cheapest times as the best.0 -
bah to the tooth - I hope you can get it fixed soon before it gets sensitive!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Hope the tooth gets sorted soon - crater in the mouth doesn't sound too pleasant
.
Cooked beef probably preferable to beef lollies. Folks here have got LO roast chicken - did a roast yesterday as DS1 - coming home tomorrow- doesn't eat poultry but DS2 loves it; so roast yesterday and show him how you can do things with leftovers today!
Have a good day with DS

CBM - good to show them what can be done with leftovers - what did you make?
I did some baking - not my most successful attempt ever - did millionaires shortbread - the shortbread was breadcrumbs and the toffee bit was so chewey it nearly rendered all the family toothless like me LOL - melted choc was ok on the top though - destined not to make a millionaire either in confectionary or life - ah well - what I've never had I'll never miss - wouldn't mind giving it a go though.
Hypno - I will be on the phone to the dentist first thing Tuesday morning - it's vanity because the tooth is dead (had most of my roots fills over the years) but it looks and feels rubbish. Hope they can fit me in whilst I'm still off next week - work frown upon taking time off for appointments because we get school holidays but sometimes it just can't be helped.
I could audition for wicked witch of the north at the mo with the gap in my mouth - did you see the 'over the rainbow' - how did that poor girl manage to sing knowing she would be finishing. It brought a tear to my eye watching. I do like the auditions for the west-end shows rather than x-factor though - they don't ridicule the contestants like some of the early ones in x-factor.
Taxi - have indeed had a lovely few days and hopefully will continue tomorrow as we might head over to Yorkshire coast - forecast didn't look good for our coast - so might head over to Scarborough to finish off dh's days off - so will get up early and make beef butties to take and maybe get chips for tea on the seafront - so fingers crossed for a dry day - sunshine would be good but I'll make do with dry LOL

Sounds like a good day ..hope the weather is good for you x
Hope you can get into the dentists.0 -
Dh went back to work today and I set to - to sort things out a bit after my week of relaxation and generally enjoying myself.
I have
- shredded papers and organised those I want to keep
- phoned the dentist and got an appointment for tomorrow afternoon.
- made payment to cc of £480
- phoned around/used t'internet and got totals of loan and 0% card -
NEW TOTAL £3,781.66
TOTAL SEPTEMBER 2009 £5,345.84
TOTAL JAN 2006 around £20,000 (couldn't face knowing)
I have £650 building up nicely in ISA to pay towards my 0% card (£1,806) which runs out in September - I want to up my ISA savings so I can pay it all off when it runs out.
So although it isn't moving as quickly as I'd like it is moving in the right direction.
I'm not sure the reward cc is the way forward for me - I seem to be using it quite a bit where I don't think I'd have used cash. I am going to give it one last shot by paying it off every time I use it rather than waiting until the end of month. If I find out this is still too tempting I'm going back to using cash for most things.
I'm quite pleased with my day so far
