Boss waiting for me and took me into the office where she apologised for the previous morning. Think I'm still in shock!!

Nurse has arranged for the new treatment to start - so next Thursday I'll have two nurses coming to the house to train me in administering it - could be interesting!!! I'm hoping it works as I can't go on as I am and really don't want to go through another operation. Soooo fingers and anything else you can cross crossed. Don't know if it's all this hospital business hanging over me but I don't feel in the slightest bit festive yeat this year. Need to muster up some ho-ho-ho I think!!

  • Sorry to hear about your work woes - but good that the boss apologised, you don't hear of that happening very often! If you looked for another job would it be in another special school?

Good luck with the nurses and new treatment, hope it all works out better.

    Cheers

glad you are getting treatment sorted. Good the boss apologised too! I found the special occasions board brilliant last year for getting me in the mood for xmas - they had lots of suggestions for cheap things to make!

CBM - I saw my ideal job advertised a few months ago - it was a speech therapist assistant - but they rarely come up. I'd half filled my application in and then ended up back in hospital and I missed the date - so I decided to wait until I was as sure as you can be about not having to go back in hospital again as I've built my sick pay elegibility up again where I am now. Waiting on one more scan and result then I will look seriously.

I love working with the children but to be honest - just recently am finding it a bit too physical. I work a lot with the children with severe behavioural problems through one reason or another - I love the challenge and rewards when you get through to them - but last year had a black eye, a week off with a pulled muscle in my back and I've lost count of the pinches and kicks I've had. I'm my own worse enemy because I'm drawn to these kids - 95% of the time they are great but when they lose it - they do it big time. Sooo - ideally I'd like a job without the bruises that go with it - but unfortunately it goes with the territory - I'm getting abit too old LOL LOL LOL. I'll only move if I see something I really want as I don't want to go from the frying pan into the fire, but I'm looking - when I see it I'll know.

The fog has been terrible round here. We'd planned on going to St Annes to a train show (want to buy dhs present there) tomorrow, but if it is icy and foggy might have to rethink.

Off to bed now - night night

Had a lovely day in St Annes - went to train show and got dh something for Chrissy - it was only a little something but what he wanted. Walked in the sunshine along the sea front - at least I think it was the sea front - a vast amount of sand with the sea so far out I think someone must have pulled the plug!! Had a lovely carvery lunch and then did a few more Christmas shopping bits in the little shops there. Watched a beautiful sunset too. We called at The Trafford Centre on the way home - nearly 7pm so NO crowds - brill - saw something I liked the look of for dd's oh in Selfridges but checked the price out in Game first as I know Selvridges can be pricey - chuffed as it was £10 cheaper in Selvridges than Game and equal to the internet's cheapest price - I do like a bargain. All-in-all a lovely day.

Off to Manchester and the continental markets tomorrow with ds - not expecting such a crowd free day!! Only got a few presents to get including ds so I'm hoping to get a bit of inspiration whilst I'm with him. Will probably go back to his house and help him put his tree up - no idea when I'll be doing mine yet.

  • I was thinking you meant St Annes Cornwall, but you probably don't lol! There must be a St Annes 'up north' - sorry geography not my strongest point!

Re your earlier post, I know what you mean, I worked with adults with LD for some years, preferring the challenging behaviour to the high-care end, and got my fair share of bumps and bruises. Hugely rewarding, interesting and varied though. Funnily enough I saw one of the guys in the supermarket today (Morrisons - meal for £4 including vegetarian trifle :j) and he remembered me, and helped me put all my shopping on the belt. His support worker looked a bit freaked out 'you must ask the lady if she needs your help' lol but it was fine. I really miss the work and the people, but the not the hours, rubbish pay, and the staff with attitudes that really should have been pulled down with the long stay hospitals .
I bet the sunset was lovely, its been a grand day here too.

    Cheers

CBM - yes theres a St Annes up North - Taxi's neck of the wood - a few miles out of Blackpool. About an hours drive from me. Is it St Annes or St Agnes in Cornwall (might be both - geography not my strong point either LOL)

Think a good day out is a real tonic Taxi - ages since we went out without an agenda - other than go to a train show which was tiny and we only spent about an hour at most in there. I really wasn't bothered about staff do - we have to pay for ourselves - previous years I have gone because it is expected - but this year I thought - my money, my time, my choice!!! So spent the cash on us instead. I'm not one for going out in a big group - nearly 30 all in all. So we had dinner in the Carvery Pub on the front overlooking the sea at St Annes - both of us for less than me going out for a lukewarm turkey dinner (if last years do was anything to go by) - not too crowded and lovely atmosphere - I happily go out with the immediate friends I work with - but too many politics involved this year. No point getting wound up - many of them are already!!

Hope you are getting busy with Christmas bookings now Taxi
