Im confused:(
Went to look at rings today, thinking how great it would be to try on the emerald cut rings. AND! I didnt like them
Well I DID, but they didnt feel like 'the one'.
I think I prefer a much smaller diamond now, so Im completely confusedAny others that stood out? I have a trilogy diamond ring which I love, or did you only look at solitaires? You need to try everything so you can make the right decision... and also because shopping for diamonds is really fun lol!

the only rule i use - more as a rejection rule than a picking rule (as fancy shapes like Princess, Emerald, Pear can only really be picked by your eye as the 'ideal' proportions are still being studied - the cutting of round brilliants have been perfected over the last 70/80years ) - is to reject stones with a table % that is greater than the depth %. yours in the opposite, which is fine.
Thank you very much for that - very interesting indeed.

My boss took his girlfriend up to Hatton Garden - she wanted an emerald diamond, but she ended up with a radiant. And a very large radiant at that!
A very lucky lady.
Don't get disheartened - keep looking as there will be THE ONE out there... it just may be hiding a bit. (A bit like blokes!) Try different rings, different styles. I can't tell you how many hours I spent looking online at rings. I though I 'knew' the ring I wanted, but trying them on is different and I ended up with one really didn't even consider before we actually looked for real in 3D.0 -
kr, you could even have your own ring designedKavanne

apsolutly.
The cutting of diamonds has been researched and refined over many years. And the 'experts' are always refining their views on how to best cut a diamond, and in alot of ways the Internet has opened the whole thing up to a wider audience. new ways and refinments of cutting are always coming out.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0 -
Im starting to like the princess ones more, but something very very simple.
I found that the smaller diamonds suited me better, plus I was thinking about how a wedding ring would slot next to a larger diamond. Ideally i dont think Id want a wedding band that had to be shaped around the diamond. Id prefer a plain band.
But then I start thinking about if I have a small simple diamond is that really wow enough? Know what I mean?Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
The place I got mine from say that their engagement rings sit flush with any of their standard wedding rings - here's one example.
http://www.aandsjewellers.co.uk/jewellery_engagement_rings_15.htm
The one I fell in love with had two small baguettes either side of the diamond which gave extra sparkle to the diamond. Originally I thought I wanted a princess solitaire but found this set up gave the ring and the diamond something extra. Just something else for you to think about.
Before we bought it I wanted to see how it looked with the wedding bands so I asked to try them - ask to do the same when you think you've found one or two you like. With me a small and simple band platinum band went well, but so did one with 16 small diamonds. I'm not sure if a wedding band should be so flash as the diamond one, but I guess that's a decision we'll have to make closer to the wedding.
I think a 'wow' engagement ring is one where the two people involved love it, and not measured by carat. And anyway, the weight is only one of the 4 Cs. You can get stunning smaller diamonds that look better than their larger counterparts if the other 3 Cs are higher!0 -
After a chat with the OH I think Id be happier with making the decision WITH him. I value his opinion so much on jewelery normally, plus with this being one of the best peices im likely to ever own I want it to be right!
Even if we chose a definate one, I still have no idea when hes going to buy it. Let alone ask me!!
Or do you think I should have a surprise ring?Green and White Barmy Army!0 -
hello there, im looking for assistance on choosing a diamond engagement ring.

ive found this, just wondering if this seems like a good buy. http://www.qualitydiamonds.co.uk/Ring.aspx
only thing is i cant find the right ring on this site to add this diamond to.
also wondering is this a good time to buy a diamond? how is the diamond industry affected by the other economical forces at the moment? is this resession affecting it,are prices dropping, going up or still steady?
