Well Ive been hunting, and I think I like this one: http://www.beaverbrooks.co.uk/index.cfm?event=catalogue.showProduct&productID=3395
Now Im pretty sure thats overly expensive for the diamond quality. What you think?
BUT can anyone help me find another one like it but cheaper?
Although Ive looked on bluenile as it appears cheap, I like the way the band goes very thin at the diamond, and bluenile dont have this
Woah! Massivly overpriced. This is my engagement ring (in fact my diamond is a little bigger and the colour is better). I got mine from Newey's in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.0 -

Hey!
Just bought an engagement ring last weekend.
Bought it from a high-end jewellers - got a 18ct yellow gold ring with a 0.47ct diamond. Diamond is round (classic shape) and I'm told it's VS1 and F colour.
It was priced @ £2095 and I bought it @ £1850.
I'll admit, it was a bit of an impulse buy. Looking on the internet, I've found 0.5ct diamond rings for £1200 and less... Have I been had?
Cheers guys,

I have just ordered a beautiful diamond engagement ring which is getting delivered this Saturday
It's 0.4 carat, F, VS1, Premium Cut (GIA certificate)
The band is 18ct white gold mixed with 11% palladium which is just what I wanted
Paid £950 inc VAT and delivery which I thought was quite good from Samara James - Hatton Garden, London.
The diameter of the stone is 0.466mm and since I haven't seen it in the flesh I just hope its going to be big enough. My GF ring size is K so I think it will look good................................I hope so
I've spent a good few hours researching on diamonds and was originally going for a 0.5 carat, G, SI1 but thought that this one was a little rarer, plus no way could I have had it for this weekend and I desperately want to ask her on Sunday for personal reasons.0 -
Good luck, Glen!!Kavanne

This is just why cost is not important. Someone who hasn't a clue will just buy one because it's expensive. They assume that because it costs so much it must be a good one.
oh...and that is about £1,300 over priced
:edit: make that £1,100 over priced, forgot it was platinum0 -

That is true Glen, but, it isn't always just the quality of the diamond that you pay more for.
Usually, you pay more for a ring (sometimes much more) from a reputable or exclusive jewellers, because the crafting of the ring (eg. the setting/clutching of the stone and the moulding of the ring) is of a superior quality.

kr15snw, yes that is overpriced. I had quick look at some of the websites of the Hatton Garden jewellers and found these:

At Hatton Garden they will make you anything you like. Do you live near there? Or Birmingham for the Birmingham Quarter? If you do then I'd say it'd well be worth a trip there.
Yeah it is beautiful, I feel like no other ring compares! I found it a year ago, before an engagement was even on the cards. The one pictured was £9300, platinum band and the diamond was "1.81ct G VS2 Triangle-cut diamond". That's one big sparkler! I would like a carat though and I am waiting for them to get back to me with a rough price. I would wait for a year to get it, I really would. Fingers crossed on the quote.0
