Engagement Rings (merged)

Hi,
Just to say I'm now very happily engaged to my beautiful fiance!!!!! We're both over the moon, thanks to everyone with their tips and suggestions. I proposed on friday (13th! woooo) before whisking her down to london for the weekend and we went ring shopping on saturday. Walked out of A&S with the ring of her dreams (which looked very similar to the CZ pretend one I had got her) and it didn't have to be resized or anything. For a photo on the A&S website see their webpage (engagement ring number 4).
Thanks again everyone! I'm sure I'll be back on here once the wedding plans get going:money:
Here is a poor quality pic taken on my phone:0 -

Congratulations Jonny Power!
The ring look gorgeous. I took a look on their website and the claw setting is absolutely lovely.
I'm so glad you are both enjoying the ring.0 -

A very nice diamond.
Did they show you the GIA number on the side of the diamond? I'm still amazed that anyone could laser something that small onto a diamond. I have pretty good eyes and I *just* managed to see it under (I think) 10x magnification, bright lights and squinting - finace struggles with the TV so he had no chance!
They say that when you find the right one you know, and it sounds as though you both have found the right one!0 -
Well the OH has told me 'I reckon its about time I started thinking about engagement', which is great.
But him having no idea what would be best, and me being picky, hes asked me to look around. Pick a few I like and tell my best friend. Who will then report back and tell him which one I like best :P
We did this with my birthday present and it works brilliantly, lol, I got a gorgeous diamond necklace which he picked from a few I had said I liked. But the best bit is my best friend could tell which one I liked best and told him to get me that one
So advice needed ladies!! (and gents)
Dream ring would be platinum thin band with an emerald cut diamond. Unfortunately this appears to be harder to find. From showing my OH some rings at the weekend he seemed pretty happy with a ring that was about £900. So I think under 1k is my limit (this sounds like so much money, and I know it is!!!)
I saw one in fraser hart that Ive been drooling over for a while but can anyone reccomend any other places? Maybe even some websites? Buying online doesnt phase us at all.
Thank youGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -

Alternatively you can go to birmingham jewellery quarter or Hatton Garden in London they will also have a larger selection of emerald solitaires than a high street jeweller and YOUR MONEY WILL GO MUCH FURTHER.
Looks like on Blue nile you could have like a 0.44ct (E, SI1, £456) emerald cut diamond in platinum for £1000. Bargain. You could have a bigger diamond if you would be happy with a white gold setting
Please please PLEASE check the clarity of the diamonds on fraser hart, I bet it will be in the I range... ie... visible inclusions to naked eye... that is NOT what you want! Google the '4Cs'Kavanne

Inclusions will get in the way of light that enters your diamond and absorb it, thus marking it less sparkly.

Carat is well... size!
and Cut: http://www.thediamondbuyingguide.com/diamondcut.html the cut affects how much light your diamond will refract... how sparkly it will be, basically!! so VERY importantKavanne
