Has anyone tried www.purelydiamonds.co.uk ? They seem to have very reasonably priced rings.

Do a search on here. Someone posted a positive review a few years back. I am happy you posted this as I had no heard from them. I will go for the wedding bands.

For the engagement ring, I decided to go for CZ from a reputable US retailer (jewellery direct) and I am very happy with my choice! and still costs £200 delivered:T. Not bothered at all it isnt the real thing.:D
QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D

I read somewhere that you should spend a months wages :o:o Dunno if that's gross or net pay lol ;D

Hubby looked at expensive ones for me but the only one I liked was about £20, that was 15 years ago though ;D

I was always told the months wages thing...but I don't think I'd be overly bothered if it didn't cost that much.

If I were ever to get engaged again, I'd quite like to make a joint decision on the ring - although my engagement ring was gorgeous, and did cost more than a months wages, it wasn't something I would have picked. I liked it, but because I had to, IYKWIM.
I don't believe in doing things the easy way..... :)
  • The whole x months salary on a e-ring is all just marketing, and chinese whispers... if you were to go to parts of the States who'd hear girls talking 3 months salary!

Spend what you can afford, and what you feel comfortable wearing.

Yes, you might be able to afford that 2ct D IF stone... but if you are not comfortable wearing £55,000 worth of diamonds on your finger, then you wont wear it, and it'll be a waste of money.
If you'd like a pretty 0.25ct stone - but could afford more, it doesnt matter. Buy what you want and you'll love it.

I'd dread to think how much the insurance would be on that ring! My £22 for 4 months is bad enough... I think I'll be changing insurers come renewal!

I put my rings on my home insurance and for my provider it worked out cheaper than doing it separately elsewhere :)

That's what I did with mine, I just don't think it's a competitive price - c£66 for the year on contents insurance that came to £93 pre-ring... unless insuring an engagement ring is very expensive.

I know I don't carry my TV about my person, but still!

(And I've got to get insurance for my bicycle soon, that'll come to about £70/year + buying a £40 D lock. I should buy cheaper high risk items!)
  • getting nervous now, off to hatton garden very soon!

also... i've seen a couple of recommendations for Hatton Garden (A&S, Katz), but if anyone has any other jewellers that they would recommend there then please let me know:cool:
