Darnell are still at the same old game. I had a "telephone interview" with someone called Roshen yesterday. Very strong South African(?) accent so I understood about two words in three. I decided to talk to the people I did a will writing course with and they advised me to check them out, which is how I found this thread. I sent the link to it to Jobsite, who had forwarded the "vacancy" to me. They have had several complaints & removed Darnell vacancies from their site. Like other correspondents, I think this should be referred to the Trading Standards Authority - in fact, I shall do so myself.
Or I would, if it weren't for this "TSI head office is currently suffering a total loss of email services. We apologise for any problems this may cause. "
    That's really helpful!!

I have applied for Jobs through both Darnell International and a company called Bold Moves. On one occasion i was called back by someone who told me that my application would be put through after a telephone interview. I completed the telephone interview and was told i was perfect for the position and the position was outlined to me. Then i was told that i needed to take the IFS CEFA Qualification to be successfull.

As it happens i actually hold all the qualifications necessary to become an IFA through the CII who are a rival provider of qualifications to the IFS (and actually more commonly held). Once i had explained this to the "recruiter" (who had never even heard of the CII certificate in financial planning despite it being the oldest and most commonly held financial service qualification) I was told that my application would be put on hold till they could verify the qualifications i hold are sufficient.

Since this conversation I have had no further contact. It is my belief that there are no jobs because if there where i should have been put forward for them without doing the course as i already hold enough qualifications to be an IFA or a Mortgage Adviser.

If anyone has any information about how i can go about retrieveing my £495 i would be extremely grateful. I have already changed my card details in fear they might take further advantage.

This is my first time using this site so not to sure what I am doing but anyway...

[TEXT DELETED]. I have a good career in retail management but I am very unhappy in my current job and decided I wanted to change my career direction. I saw the advert for Trainee Financial Advisor on the job search website I think it was Fish4jobs or Total Jobs, I applied and a few days later I received a call from Keith McManus from Darnell. He gave me the same speil everyone else on here received... That my CV was fantastic that 1 bank in my local town thought it was brilliant and they would be really interested in interviewing me etc. Then he "suddenly noticed" I didn't have the Cefa qualification. He informed me I would need to pass this exam to legally work in the financial services industry and hey presto I can pay their sister company and do it through them! I did question him a bit on this but he said the bank would pay for me to sit the other 3 units during my training. I said the salary banding the bank were offering was too much of a pay cut for me. "Don't worry" said Keith, "I shall call the bank and express your concern on this matter. They were very keen so may be flexible on this". He rang em back and told me they would increase the salary as I have such good work experience. I said how long will it take and won't the bank find someone else in the time it takes me to study for this. Keith said it would take me 2 weeks if I study 1.5 hours a day and that the bank would wait for me to do this. Well I did it in 2 weeks but I studyed up to 5 hours some days to do so. After I passed I rang Keith and he said he would call the bank then call me back... and guess what... he did not call me back. I rang and rang till eventually someone else told me the job had gone to someone else. This new woman said she would look in to this for me and get me some other interviews lined up. She promised to call back within 24 hours... guess what... she didnt. Eventually I got hold of a manager, explained the whole scenario, he apologised and said he would deal with Keith who mislead me and also find me a job. The next day he rang and said Keith had had a warning... woop de do, that doesn't help me out and that he would ring me in next couple of days with interviews... I have not heard from him since and he wont reply to my emails... that was over a week ago

Exactly the same happened to me. Doesnt it feel like you hve had to explain your situation about 1 million times! And u never seem to speak to the same person. No one has got a warning its jus bull. Theres not much you can do really..I suggest you wirte to watch dog. I hve done tht and I know quite a few others tht hve aswell!
  • I have been sending emails for the past two weeks for my refund and cancellation but havent even got a single reply from Darnell. I tried finding their office at Tower Bridge but could not locate it. Guys please let me know what the plan of action is. I am ready to help in whatever way I can. Should we contact consumer direct and the trading authority?
