Just about to book my CEFA1 for january can you sell the course material
People, People! Do not pay for this stupid training course!!!!!!!!!

CeFA module 1 requires you to fully read and study the whole module as a whole.

If you want a free tip! I can give you this for nought!

    (1) Order from IFS learning and I think it is still £135 per module.
    (2) Do not order all the rubbish they try and sell you. This is from experience as I did. Waste of money!!!!!!!! This includes the summary book and CDT software.
If you are desperate for this and you know someone who works in a bank, you can get these for free.
    (3) Read and study the whole module! I mean read and study! You will be surprised how boring it is and how many people fail this module!
    (4) CeFA1 is one of the hardest modules out of the 4. CeFA module 1, module 3 part 2 and the synopsis are the most difficult to pass.
    (5) TIP: Can you see the black bold statements? Revise them! Yes. The are black and bold for only one reason! They will be on the exam.

    (6) Last tip. If you are the lazy person and complete cacking your pants, I greatly suggest trying to buy some cheap help from ebay for a fraction of the price.

    (7) Feel free to ask me anything.

Last advice: Obtaining and holding only CeFA module 1 will not get you are job in finance.

TEDDY! Is Learn Financial reputable at all? They asked for £195 for Module 1 and said they will repay that back in 60 days once the module was passed. The person in question also visited their office and is adamant that they are genuine. I might add that she saw this opportunity advertised on Gumtree of all places so my alarm bells are ringing!
  • I am in the exact same situation. Called them this morning to learn that their training division has been made redundant.
I spoke to a guy called Fred who works in the education recruitment departments.
He was not very helpful at all.

I am hoping to get a refund back but no one has contacted me.
This is worth reporting to the police or a consumer governing body.
  • @ chiz
Do let me know what your plans are. I am planning to apply for small court relief for the refund.

Looking forward to hearing from you

    Regards,
    Amit

How do I go about with the small claims courts application?
  • Hi everyone
I can personally tell you to stay clear of Darnell International!
The company is run by an unethical lying scrooge!
I personally know many staff members who have left the company because they couldn't keep lying to people any more!
It is basically a call centre full of staff who have to sell this Course and there are no jobs lined up at the end of it, they make you believe that there are but there arent!
PLS warn anyone you know of to stay away from this company!
  • Everyone thinking of sitting CeFA...

Please consider buying your course material directly from the IFS or the CII. These are the only official institutes, as far as I know, that legitimately offer CF1-CF5 (+ other relevant qualifications).

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2132295

    http://www.ifslearning.ac.uk/qualifications/courses/cefa.cfm

    http://www.cii.co.uk/financialservices/qualifications/Qualification.aspx?award=CertFP

Neither institution is able to guarantee the reputation of various external course providers.

And be very wary of anyone who promises that they'll line you up with a job upon completion of your certificate. 99% of the time, this just won't happen. All these course providers do is simply offer you the exact same qualification that you can buy direct (except you have to pay upfront, whereas with the IFS + CII, you can buy individual modules).

Unless you've been in talks with a reputable bank or other financial institution, you will not be offered that fantastic job, just because you have CeFA under your belt.
    £1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50600

HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500

    "3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600
  • I have legal cover on my home insurance policy (it is only about £20 pa) and I am pursuing this now with my solicitor. He believes that there is definitely some mileage in fighting for the refund, but obviously it will depend on how slippery OD is.

Worth checking your policies as often this is included for costs of up to £50,000.
  • Hi everyone . so far I have heard nothing - they are looking into invidiual cases, although they have been saying this for a month a now. it was all a scam - every time i rang i never got through, never could access the elearning site and the material was totally different. they sent the information over the net - over 300 pages for me to print off and learn. nothing matched what they first promised. it sounded too good to be true - and it was! if anyone has any luck or ideas how to tackle this please share.. thank you
