I have noticed that this company has posted / advertised in nearly every online job website! [TEXT DELETED]!

This is a classic [TEXT DELETED] which has been running for decades and more and more people have been forking out for this.

To get any job in the world, no company should ask for money upfront! This applies to any modelling job! Classic scenario!

eg. A person wants to be a model. He/She approaches an agency! The agent states that he/she looks the part but requires money upfront for her portfolio! He/she needs to pay £600-£1200 for the pictures before they can forward the cv etc to potential clients like marie clare etc.

Now does this sound similar to the financial adviser scenario?

If you really want to become a FA - book the exam yourself! £135 per module!

Would you go through an agency, to tell you that you still need to pass english A-level alike? Telling you that you can provide books for you to easily pass? Come on!

    Time to all wake up!
Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Remember to say thank you to people who help you out!

Also, thank you to people who help me out.

Exactly. Never, ever pay a fee in order to get a job. Most of the time, the job won't even exist at the end of it all.

Want to do a CeFA? Start it yourself. The courses come in single module units, as pointed out above, and study can be 100% flexible to suit your needs, as well as your budget.

If you're going to pay for it anyway, through some dodgy-sounding company, then why not just go it alone? I'm currently sitting the CII Certificate in Financial Planning, which will cost about £700 in total, though this is broken down into 5 units.

From my experience with it, I'd reccommend that you purchase module 1 (£60 course book + £90 exam...you purchase the exam when you're ready, and you also get free access to revision/exam material online) directly from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

You might not even like it. To say it's difficult would be an understatement. That way, if you don't want to continue (or want to break away from study for a while), you've spent only £150, and you have a completed module under your belt.

Anyone can gain this qualification, provided they have a little brain-power behind them, so why anyone would go through a flimsy middle-man offering sketchy job opportunities is a mystery.
    £1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50600

HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500

    "3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600
  • Please count me in for the small claims form..i have been ripped off £495
  • hello all, I have been rogued as well by these people, and the bad thing is that they make me come from Belgium to London for the supposed job, now iam in London unemployed and broke, how to take legal action to get a refund? Anyway i have rung the trading standards in my area to report this company...but that will only warn ppl in this area(west lancashire) and that too if only they can call up to enquire about this darnell rubbish. It is worthwhile ring trading standards to report this company and future if you feel ify about a company it is good idea to discuss with trading standards to see if anyone has complained about it previously.Just a thought............

I received the same call yesterday afternoon and was pretty cheesed off when I found this site, I called the bloke back and asked him what the bloody hell this postings is about and he assured me that they are aware of it and still working on it. He was honest from the beginning and because of his honesty I am still contemplating on whether or not I’m going to take up this opportunity.

The question I want to rise to all the nutters above, if this was so dodgy why did you splash out the wedge so easily???

LOL! I wonder what watchdog would think about this!??? Rogue traders?

In life, and in difficult times of need, people are easily persuaded and cheated. This happens and has happened for centuries on end. The pyramid scheme, the insurance scam from sofa companies, etc etc...

It is well known that 80% of people can be easily persuaded in desperation and this is what you are doing.

It is pointless pretending to be someone if you are not.

Yes, you are correct! Why did these people put up their honest money for such a service? Why? Main reason because you made a verbal contract that they would a get job! The selling technique of this service was made on a guaranteed interview and hence position. The wording might be different but this has made them mad.

Sales techniques have been written down and in many cases recorded for reference regarding this.

But one way or another, its the morale situation of life! Decent people are being scammed at desperate times.

How would you feel if you paid for a service and you did not get what you wanted. Watchdog showed a group of builders who scammed an old desperate women. The person wanted a new drive way fitted and she handed over as much as £2K+ for the service. The builders in question did a complete scam of a job and the pathway caved in, in less than 3 months. Simply put it - cowboy jobs!

In this day - people are completely worried about cowboys! And not the western type! In every area of profession they exist. Financial advisers, electricity sales people, up to people who pretend to be chefs and recruitment agencies. All based on what? Making profit.

Nothing is wrong with making money. We all have to live on something. But how would you feel if you scammed these desperate people and may have resulted in them losing more money and getting further into financial trouble? How about their health?
Statistically put it! And surprisingly - in nature, I was surprised more people would do the above. It is as simple as who goes left or right!

All in all, it is wrong! Completely WRONG! IMMORALE! Good customer service and honesty can go a long way! This will apply throughout time and life!

Stop posting fake posts! And stop messing people about! Hard earned money is used!

  • Have been emailing them non stop but but no reply from their end...A complete £ 495 waste...I had bought the training kit at 4.30 pm and cancelled it within 30 minutes.I didnt even ask for the log in and other details. These guys have stopped answering my calls and emails for the past 1 week. I had contacted the consumer direct and they told me that internet purchases can be cancelled within a cooling off period of 7 days. I explained this to Darnell, but have received no reply from them. I am planning to visit their Tower bridge office some day next week. Do you this its a good idea to go to their office and claim back my money?

[TEXT DELETED] Have you read the whole forum? Have you listened to the video? The people behind this are very aware of this forum as he confirms on the video.
Honest from the beginning, yeh right. [TEXT DELETED]

I think something needs to be done about Darnell.
They are still 'recruiting' ie. fishing for vulnerable jobseekers looking for career change and then roping them into their course.
Ofcourse, if their course was both excellent and value for money, no one can complain much, but their course is truly a Rip Off. You will only receive 10-30% of what is promised and the rest are scanned image of IFS material which you would receive anyway from IFS when you register for the CeMAP 1 exam!
    [TEXT DELETED].
Darnell International and Darnell Training are operated by the same company Clerkenwell Investments Ltd.
The regulation governing the recruitment agencies prohibit the agencies to charge fees directly or indirectly from the jobseekers. However, Darnell International is making it a condition that the jobseeker they are working for take the course with them (since Darnell Training is operated by the same company, they are effectively the same). Hence they have acted contrary to the regulation and contrary to the Employment Agency act.
This in its own right gives the basis for you to lodge a complaint and request further investigation by the Trading Standards.
Pity....if they did things otherway round...it would have been OK
Offer truly innovative and excellent course and offer recruitment service for those who complete the course...
    [TEXT DELETED]

People need to make sure they report these fools if you see them on any job webstes. I've reported them to jobsite and they assured me they've removed the adverts already because of complaints.

Good luck buddy. I doubt you'll find anyone related to Darnell there. Worth a look if its not too far I suppose. Let us know how you get on.

On a more positive note, I've got a new job. :T Thanks.

I applied for 3 jobs including Darnell actually. Darnell was the 1st, the 2nd was the one I got, and the third one I've been offered an assessment interview for, but I'm more than happy with the job I've taken.
They were all in the same field, trainee financial/mortgage advisor positions.

My new employer is paying for all my cemap exams. I need to complete the 1st module in my 1st month, so I've been given the IFS studybook to start learning before my job starts in 2 weeks.

I can tell you one thing, there's no way in hell you could complete the course in 8 hours as Jason said on my video. You'd be pushed to read the material in that time, never mind remember it.

Anyway I didn't tell you that just to gloat, even though I am chuffed :D.
It's just to let you know that most, if not all legit companies will pay for an employees training if they think you have what it takes.

I know the other company I was offered an interview with are still recruiting too. Had to apply for that one direct through their website. That was for a trainee financial advisor, really good company.

PM me anyone who would like the details. They too put you through the exams for free!

    Dear Candidates

My name is Ben Phillips, I am a Financial Services Recruiter at Darnell International; A number of our candidates feel they've been mislead because of this thread, I will be posting some of the positions we have available from time to time and if you would like to apply for any of these positions or if you have any questions please contact me directly on 0845 475 0000 Ext. 301 or you can email me on [EMAIL="benp@darnellinternational.co.uk"]benp@darnellinternational.co.uk[/EMAIL]

    Kind Regards
    Ben Phillips
    Mortgage (& Protection) Associate

[TEXT DELETED] I'm studying module 1 of cemap at the moment and I can tell you there's no way you could learn it in 8 hours, as I was quoted by your rep, on tape.
    Is that not misleading?

You phoned my new employer actually and he couldn't understand why you wanted send him candidates without charging a fee, until I explained it to him.

So yes I'm sure those jobs do exist, anyone could find them on a jobsite. But they don't require you to have completed cemap they all provide free training, and you haven't got any sort of affiliation with any of these companies.

    [TEXT DELETED]
Thank you Ben for just confirming what we already suspected, [TEXT DELETED].

Does anyone else notice that none of these positions REQUIRE you to have completed full CeMAP, and in actual fact it states that full training is provided by the company? Which kind of confirms that what Darnell staff have been telling us "My client requires you to have completed full CeMAP", [TEXT DELETED].

I will now be using this thread in any future attempt to reclaim my hard-earned money. Cheers Ben!

Exactly Wolvesman. He's just proven what we already knew.

Youtube have removed my video today after complaints from Darnell. I can't believe that, has anyone ever read some of the comments on youtube. Its not censored at all, makes me feel sick all the racist crap that people write.

Any suggestions where to upload it next? I could just put it on rapidshare for people to download if they need it.
