I could never dream of taking paid time off to care for my baby when he was ill. I had to use my holiday allowance and even that was massively frowned upon - like, how dare your child get sick! No kidding - I even had to take work home (even though I was technically having my annual leave days). At that, I was on a juniour position in a charity organisation so not a big important boss...

My husband and I shared caring for our son when he was ill (no family around). He would take 1 day off, then I would take 1 day off.

OP should really be grateful that his wife was able to keep her place and that her employer was willing to offer her the staggered return to work.

All the best wishes to the little girl.
;24899203]I agree with the OP to some extent though. There are certain people on this forum who seem to take delight in showing off how much they now and never miss a chance to show someone how clever they are and how wrong the OP is.

Then again, likewise, some people just wont take telling.

Note, this is a GENERAL comment and does not refer to anyone or any comments in this thread.
Agree with some of your comments Paul, although not so sure about the 'showing off'.

There are some posters who don't like what they're told, and then there are some posters who make rude/unnecessary/unhelpful comments to posters and make them feel unwelcome.

I've come across a few posts lately where people have said they wont bother posting again because of the way others have replied to their original post, and it isn't just that they don't like the answers they receive.

As with Paul, this isn't aimed at anyone, just a general observation.
