I considered have a booze free Jan Lula but have decided against it. It's a carp enough month without any wine or cider to keep me entertained.

    Quite :T,

I conquered my booze demon while still in my twenties so dont find it any hardship to go without for a while. There's far too much talk of giving up booze at this time of year, without you & I joining in ;)

    Hi Tea,

good to hear from you :) , & that you're feeling fully refreshed & raring to go again. Thanks for popping in :A .Do I need to find your new diary or are you on the same one ?

    Ok,

enough of the pleasantries & posting on other threads so I can avoid what needs to be said .

I have been lurking on molanole's thread abut how much peeps have paid off in the last year... I am utterly astounded by some of the amounts & in total awe at what has been achieved. I wanted to add mine in to help boost the balance, really I did, but was a bit embarassed at only having what I thought was about £100 to add ....

Then I looked back at page 1 of my Big Pink Book which began on the 1st January 2009. My debt then was on 2 CCs & the total amount outstanding was £6,107. If you look at my sig you will clearly see that in a whole 12 months I have managed to reduce my CC debt by the pathetic amount of £ 657 :o:o:o.

What the hell have I been doing for the last 12 months . I have been paying hundreds - literally - of pounds to them each month. Yes, I know there has been some quite heavy duty car expenditure, about £600 which would otherwise double the amount cleared, but still, I am utterly baffled. And ashamed. And seething. I have written a very stern note to myself, pointing out all my failings & reminding myself of various unnecessary purchases ( Ruby comes to mind) but really I am just wondering how on earth I can pay off the full £5450 in the next 12 months if I only managed a ninth of that last year .

    * many many swear words are in this space *

Best get on with it then

Today's trip to Waitrose ended up costing £45 which included £9.61 on household items ( loo rolls & washing powder for the next 5 weeks) so as far as actual groceries are concerned I'm just over my weekly budget of £35 but I KNOW that we have everything we need for the week ahead. I even bought extra milk to put in the freezer. I did double up on special offer purchases eg teabags, buttery stuff, frubes for DDs lunches & as always opted for loose fruit & veg - 3 onions in a string bag for 99p ... I got 3 white & 3 red for 78p ;)

I have done a rough meal plan for the week & as long as DD doesnt manage to persuade me otherwise then that's what I'll stick to.

I feel really sick at how little I've cleared & now know that I am definitely needing to keep both jobs for the forseeable future :(

    *heads for the naughty corner*

    night night
    xx

I agree with Shoe Gal.... now get out of that naughty corner, it's not where you belong :naughty:

Remember you've had to add to your debt this year so haven't paid off as much as you'd like but you've still done well. You're a single mother running a household on your own and although DD1 doesn't live there you still provide for her in ways.

I hope your first day back goes ok tomorrow. Hopefully after a good nights kip you'll feel better about everything you wrote earlier too :A

Hi Lula, I lost my old diary somewhere along the line so have started a new one but have marked it 'part 2'.

I totally agree with Shoe_gal and Bowski, you are doing well so don't beat yourself up about it.

    Catch you later,

Lula I'm on to 'shout' at you too. You do the mummy bit, and work and provide for everyone and keep a house and everything on your own.

Now get out of the naughty corner and maybe have a dance with Gordon X
