    Good luck, Lula!

Hope the roads aren't too bad and that you get yourself and DD1 home safely.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

Journey accomplished safely & with no major incidents other than surprise that when braking there is no slowing down at all, just a rather worrying grd grd grd noise  which I chose to ignore.

Driving on freshly fallen snow is fine. Driving on compacted, frozen, thawed & then refrozen snow is certainly entertaining. At no point did I feel I had any control of the direction in which the car was going & my car's particular suspension & tyres although excellent in the wet & round corners & roundabouts when dry ... are not ideal in this weather .

It was only when we got home that I realised I had been clenching my teeth for the entire 2 hours :o.

No sign of the impending snow as yet but as I dont plan on leaving home again by car until about March then I dont care :D

Cant wait to weigh myself again tomorrow to see if I really have lost 4lbs ... (it's probably tooth enamel)

Just popping in to check you got home with DD1 safely, what a nightmare! I haven't driven for over a week, my car is under a pile of snow a couple of streets away, will have to wait for a thaw to see exactly which one is mine:rolleyes:

    Thanks I am fine :)

I wouldnt be in any rush to relocate your car sarah, it's pretty scary :( . All car drivers are being very sensible but van & bus drivers going way too fast & close for my liking.

Is that not your ABS telling you your wheels are locking up and you're skidding? Sounds like a farty noise emanating from your brake pedal?

  you're a boy so you're probably right :D

Not just sounds though, could actually feel the vibrations through the pedal too, someone suggested it might be ice in the brake pads. Anyway, it only happened when slowing down from 3rd so wont do that again; was just caught unawares going down hill & felt quite sick when car wouldnt slow down _pale_

No - that's definately ABS. It freaks out in this weather as it can't get its little head around the fact you're going to slide no matter what you do.

My traction control freaks out too - but I can turn that off.

If you pump the brake, it doesn't cut in. Some cars you can press the brake all the way to the floor to override it. Just be aware that you *will* slide.

Thanks for passing on the knowledge & I'm ok with sliding a bit, just not downhill into oncoming bus

Funny the things I've learnt since having a 'modern' car ... the eggy stench when pulling away in wrong gear is apparently caused by catlaytic converter. ( wouldnt recognise one but sure know what it smells like - wont do that again either)

    Hello,

my first thought on waking this morning was relief that the predicted 15cms of snow hadnt occurred during the night :j.

My second was that it appears to be melting now. There's the sound of dripping all around & most of the branches are now bare again.

We havent yet ventured out so a NSD is in progress & although I've promised to return DD1 to the badlands of Berkshire later on I shall not be stopping at any shops.

I've had a text from the school to say it's open tomorrow but children are to arrive between 9.15 & 9.45  That'll be handy for all the parents who start work at 9 then. It was also suggested that children should have suitable footwear & a coat. NO, really ? I had planned flipflops & a crop top

So, that's good news all round & the Brownies Leader popped round last night to deliver kit list & consent forms for the trip next weekend. That's come round a bit quick & it seems that we already have everything on the list :D.

The best news is that the scales did not lie yesterday, I have indeed lost 4lbs :j& am now feeling motivated to continue cutting down on my calorie intake & also continue doing Just Dance at least 3 times a week.

I will be wearing my favourite jeans this year.

Just in case the snow returns, I have been watching Ice Road Truckers for a few tips & am now contemplating a career change ;)

Congrats on the wight loss Lula.

We had one child deliverd to school in sandals last week with a pac a mac over a cardi. Some parents are monumentally thick, though not as thick as the person who arrived in suede leopard print wedges with 4" heels and a micro mini.
