Fear not Horace, I'm sure the usual scatty Lula will return shortly, I just wanted to make an effort to start with :p:D. You should definitely have a new bag, November is a very good month for having a new bag, & it's always a good month for having new botts & shoes, right Shoe Gal ? ;)

Like many peeps I actually perform better & achieve more when I have less time to do it all in. Today I have done Work Job & Home Job, sorted through my paperwork & written the letters to both Tax Credit & Council Tax peeps re new job/earnings etc ... that'll be another tree's worth of paper as the Council cant just ring me & say pay this £ xyz amount, they have to work it all out for me, tell me why they worked it out that way & then inform that if I disagree with their workings out then I can a:mad: appeal ... !!!!!! email me, call me or send me a text, anything but reams & reams of paper when all I want to know is 'how much now?'

I'm digressing again :naughty: this is what happens when I dont drink wine; my brain stays alert longer - still get digital dyslexia though

I have also received the copy of No Claim Discount entitlement from previous insurers which I now have to send to new insurers ...that's another tree then; previous insurers were quite happy to confirm my entitlement over the phone to new isurere, but new insurer wouldnt  As they claim to be ethical then I might just have to take issue with that particular policy. So much time, energy, resources wasted when a 3 minute phone call could do the lot. I feel a letter stirring within .

Moving on, it's been a NSD :j & I've also had some financial freebies; Ipsos finally coughed up the £10 reward :D, I have £4 Quidco cash tracked thanks to a bit of online christmas shopping last night :D & I received a whopping £3 in co op vouchers

The best news is that I am to be paid a set monthly salary as from next month whereas I was expecting it to be done on hours worked x hourly rate again. This means that I will always know what is coming in & can really create a workable budget :j. My rent has always been paid weekly but I may now consider changing that to monthly so that it's easier.

    Need my bed now

    G'night
    xx
  • Hi Lula.... That's brilliant news about the set pay :j certainly makes DFW life alot easier! I'm glad everything with new job has worked out, you've probably chosen the right time to become all organised and get your house sorted. I don't think you can beat coming home from work to a nice tidy house :D

I know what you mean about ct/hb... I must have had a forest through my door since I put my claim in over 3 months ago  Have you heard anything about them not taking child benefit into consideration anymore? I've had a letter about it, somebody is meant to be coming round on Friday to talk me through it. I must ring them actually as I'm not in on Friday.

Awww I'm glad you and your sister are happy with your Mum's memorial bench, it sounds just beautiful :A

    Hi Bowski & other lovelies,

Day 2 of Lulas Organised New Life meant whizzing the hoover round the bedrooms at 8.40 this morning. I have about half an hour spare between walking DD to school & leaving for work so my aim is to use this time wisely to do a small chore each day so I dont spend all week end doing them - that was horrible & I dont wanna do it again :p.

This morning I had to pay some cash into the bank as well to cover the online shopping I've done. Cant wait until money goes into the bank & I dont have to faff about with paying in every few days.

Ahhhh to CB not being counted in rent workings out, that might be why I got the reduction ... now of course it will go up again :rotfl: Due to starting half way through the month & also not working for a week over christmas I wont get the normal salary until January & I'm on trial for 3 months anyway so not all as simple as I first thought. Small obstacles to be overcome though & at least I'm earning.

Sadly Day 2 of being organised ended about 5.30 when I realised that we'd run out of cat food & bread :o. Trip to T**** ensued with a spend of £11.04 in the shop followed by another £29.81 on fuel ( after using £6.50 in clubcard vouchers, thankfully as by then I only had £ 30 in my purse )

No freebies or surveys earnings today & I've been screened out of about 15 surveys in the last couple of days .

I havent even thought about a drink today :D but so tired I need to go to bed now, I am really looking forward to friday.

    G'night
    xx

    *yawns*

Not a huge amount to report today but what with being so busy with work & keeping on top of DDs needs & activities & the home & catapuss, I keep forgetting about being a DFW :o. I am making myself log in each day so I keep on the case.

I've now worked out my monthly expenses & it's scary stuff. There is still some scope for adjustments if necessary but I dont want to under budget. I wont hit my targets for the end of the year as I need to make sure I have enough to cover me over christmas; no pay from home job for a week & also only 3 weeks pay from work job & that isnt paid until last day of the month. It could be minimum payments only for December .

As my letter of appointment states that I am on a 3 month trial, I am not prepared to give up the home job until I have a permanent contract, not taking any chances.

No surveys done but it has been a NSD, the target is within sight but by no means guaranteed.

  • Hi Lula... crikey you are busy busy busy! I think it's a good idea about keeping on home job until work job becomes permanent. Just hope it doesn't become too much for you.
Try and not be too bothered with only paying minimum payments over december. I know it's not what you want to be doing but being able to pay minimum on everything in December is a good achievement in itself.

Well done on your NSD's. I hope you enjoy your Friday

    * yawns, again *

Hi Shoe Gal, I'm teetering on the edge og organziation about to slide into chaos but am about to be saved by FRIDAY :D

I'd planned to go food shopping after collecting DD from school but, had a request from DD1 to collect her from her house & take her to her friends at 6. Couldnt face slotting shopping in as well so did my good deed instead. The usual last minute change of plans between DD1 & her friend meant she came to hang out her for a bit, managing to have a bath, annoy the cat & seriously aggravate DD by playing her trumpet, which was actually my fault. I got it out & DD1 started filming me attempting to play which we thought was quite hilarious ... little DD was not at all amused & we got told off :p:rotfl:

All this means I have inadvertently managed another NSD so I'm within one day of hitting target. Havent a clue about finances other than I have more direct debits going out next week than I currently have money in the bank  but I have now redeemd £20 of vouchers & opted for Amazon rewards so can use for christmas presents. I am going shopping first thing tomorrow morning so must get a few bits then as next friday is inset day, leaving me just one more day to shop for DD . Thank goodness for internet shopping or I would be in serious trouble.

Must now go & take advantage of the 30% Body Shop offer - thru Quidco of course ;).

    Hey fabbies,

I'm feeling far more human & Lula like today - the scary, organized, sober woman has been put in the cupboard & I'm not letting her out until monday morning :p.

I was in town by 9.20 this morning & taking back the stuff I bought last week so that I didnt have to declare it on the Clothes Challenge. Once I got it home I realised that I didnt want it anymore .

I then went to do my Waitrose shop & spent a rather embarassing £ 49 . However, this was mainly due to there being some household stuff bargains that means I can spend less in Tatco next week. The total for groceries was £ 35.37 so just over my budget but I did stock up on offers so will last more than the week.

Came home & decide not to spend the week end cleaning so made a start today by doing the hoovering & cleaning the bathroom. Just the kitchen & 2 washloads to do then :D.

Took DD & Bessfriend to pet store after school & they spent an hour coing over the bunnie, hammies & piggies. I wanted to take them all home & am really yearning for another hammie but just cant see how I can with catapuss in the house. Bought him a couple of new toys & of course he's not interested at all, much preferring the home made toy of strands of woll tied on to a stick. Will I never learn :wall: anyway, stocked up on kitty bits & spent £ 24.65 in total.

Dropped in at the co op on the way home & used my £3.04 worth of vouchers on a bottle of Pink Elephant juice :j. I've not had a drink all week & am really looking forward to having a glass later. Have to take Bessfriend home at 9.30 so it's chilling itself in the fridge in anticipation.

So looking forward to not having to get up tomorrow morning, it's going to be luxurious.

Need one more NSD to complete the month's target & with 3 days left I should achieve it ...

Humans shop with our eyes, so we buy what looks good. Unless we think hard to overcome that, we don't buy what works the best.

Ever the wise one eh Z :T

I am getting wise to my urges now though. Today I picked up 3 items in a shop, carried them around with me while browsing, then when I thought it was time to hit the fitting rooms I looked at them all again & realised that I didnt actually want any of them so put them back on the rail & walked out of the shop :D

The time delay is all important when shopping.
