Hurray for new boots Shoe Gal
I'm trying to stop myself fomr buying apri in Next at the moent, although today 'popped' into Faith & saw an almost identical pair for £30 less - & that was the price after they'd knocked £30 off .
I confess to being a bit weird when it comes to my purchases & possessions. If I find the 'perfect' item then I will not want another until it wears out ( & I do take care of stuff so it does last for ages) but if the item I buy isnt 'quite right' then I will keep on buying similar items trying to make up for it's imperfection
.
Sarah, I know exactly how you feel about not having learnt the debt lesson earlier . I just keep thinking to myself that I would have had an extra £300 to spend on fabby stuff this month. I could have bought the gorgeous huge armchair that I am yearning for. It really makes me sick that I have to keep on thinking that way for ages until the debt is all gone.
:doh::wall::doh::wall::doh::wall:
As to DD & advertising, thankfully I taught her from day 1 that ads have one purpose only, to make us want to buy that item & she has actually absorbed a lot of moneysaving over the last year & when wanting to buy a new ds game with birthday money she actually asked me to look on amazon & was quite happy to have the pre-owned game for half the price.
Anyway, she has far more important things to do with her time, as you know :rotfl:0 -

Hey Lula,
I meant to post this ages ago but completely forgot. Re: your overpaying Council Tax - when you claimed HB during your two weeks hols, they probably also gave you council tax benefit??
Am I hopelessly behind the times though...maybe you've worked it all this out and I'm irrelevant....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Hello,
Lula was having computer problems earlier in the week - Numpty Monkey put a comment on the "notice to newcomers" thread - guess that's why she's still missing.
Hope this helps.

Hello all,
your concern over my absence is appreciated :kisses3: & thanks Solvent Soon for notifying of pc probs :A
It has been sheer torture, stupid pc died on sunday evening & the first 3 days were sheer torture. I ddint know what to do with myself, & even tried cleaning the bathroom for entertainment . Nice techie guy at work offered to look at pc for me & has installed new temporary hard drive but has also given last rites so it could die at any minute
I feel like my life has been picked up & shaken like a snow globe, so much has been going on; Memorial tree planting, Barclaycard waiving interest, 123 emails to delete, getting 3 days notice of starting new job permanently, working 2 jobs & doing 14 hours a day & Today has been the ultimate in chaos; involving blown electrical appliances, dog grooming, 95 year olds birthdays, sneaky & cunning cats, mice under beds, trips to Tatco  & finally a bottle of wine. Strange but true; I havent had a drink all week until tonight.
If the pc holds its own then I will attempt a coherent & informative update on financial matters in the morning. I am proud to reveal that I have still maintained Barclaycard payments via pc at work
I am very tired & determined to get to my bed before the cat does ...
G'night
