Ow,
I really overdid the wine last night - stress levels at maximum & hormones rampaging - so my hangover kicked in at about 4.30 this morning
Now running at about 80% capacity & almost all finances up to date.
Received Barclycard statement & discovered that inspite of my clear & precise instructions that I wanted to maintain my present minimum payment ... they had lowered it to £45 . Cue raised voice conversation with Barclyacard person who was most apologetic & assured me that his supervisor would call me back asap. The next day I had a call from equally apologetic supervisor who said that if I could just make an additional payment to increase the minimum to usual then they would refund the interest.
I paid the additional £50 ( which I was going to anyway as I'm on my mission) & have just checked my Barclaycard account & they have refunded the £39.51 interest :j:T. I started my Quest full of hatred for Barclaycard ( not quite as much as Tatco, but close) but it seems they are coming round to my way of thinking & if they keep this up then they could be my new best friend. Current best friend currently techie guy at work :A.
Car is undergoing a full service & cambelt replacement as I type & I dread the call to say it's ready which means the debt rockets again. Have no option but to put the bill on CC
The handle on the oven door has now fallen off & it seems that the superglue which has held it in place for the last 5 years is no longer effective. A new cooker has been on my wish list for some time now - along with new sofa - but in a distant & not until absolutely necessary way. Not sure about cooking christmas dinner with an oven door that needs to be opened with a spatula in one hand & oven glove on the other ... but if need must then I'm sure I'll cope :rotfl:.
Before anyone suggests freecycle or ebay let me assure you that the thought of a second hand cooker makes me feel physically sick. Frankly, I'd rather use the fire pit / cauldron in the garden. Ugh :eek:to other peoples crud. I dont do second hand washing machines or cookers. I'd rather increase the debt.
Off to have another restorative coffee & await news from garage
I shall return ...0 -
It has been sheer torture, stupid pc died on sunday evening & the first 3 days were sheer torture. I ddint know what to do with myself, & even tried cleaning the bathroom for entertainment . Nice techie guy at work offered to look at pc for me & has installed new temporary hard drive but has also given last rites so it could die at any minuteCurrent best friend currently techie guy at work :A.

Hello again,
ZTD - you're barking up the wrong tree re Techie guy, not 'nice' - just a guy who enabled me to return to the magical marvels of MSE for nothing more than cup of coffee ( & the fact that he's on retainer with my employer )
More news :
One glass of restorative Balance is not enough
I have claimed a couple of £10 vouchers from surveys
The virgin bill is £53  - had to make another call to Portugal  & DD - not content with having remastered my lovefilm account - has discovered 'on demand' ie 1 x Hotel for Dogs at £3.99. I am particularly miffed at this as I remember taking her to see it at the cinema. There has been a lecture for her & a lesson for me; I didnt know that on demand cost £.
Had a call from the garage to say that my car was ready :j & that the labour cost were £240. She didnt know what the parts were going to cost, but suggested I bring my CC with me  so I decided not to collect until [STRIKE] 3 am with spare key & then relocate to new address[/STRIKE] tomorrow morning after the school run when the bill would seem less scary in the daylight.
Actually I didnt want to ruin an otherwise perfectly good NSD.
Also far too untrusting to collect car in the dark - want to see it clearly to inspect for any damage - yes I am a cynical vache
Off to explore the wonders of SAID now :j
G'night

lula hula I have come out from lurksville to say it is great to see you back on the forums.
Just a little tip for the cooker, depending on whether you can soldier on for a little longer and where you live...
I buy my electrical appliances from John Lewis - they do all seconds as 40% off, I only ever buy the brand new packaging damaged ones (which means there is some small damage to the cardboard so cannot be sold as new). As they price match anyway, the 40% is a good discount, and twice now I've gone online and got free extended warranties (5 years) on the items (dishwasher and washing machine). Plus if you ever have any grief they are much easier to deal with than somewhere like Curries (I speak from experience!).
It meant I could afford a miele dishwasher on a beko budget! I did buy a cooker there last year in the clearance too and am very very happy with it.

Oooh hello musuemworker & thanks for that fabby tip :T:A
so funny you mention the beko budget, have been eyeing up a stoves stainless steel cooker & trying to justify it being twice the similar beko model price :rotfl:* considers a new twist to the clothes challenge ie any money saved by purchasing cheaper model can be added to clothes challenge budget* . I think that john lewis is topcashback compatible too
However, all spending is now on hold until the final car bill is known. a good thing is that I have discovered that cooker door can be easily opened with the detachable grill pan handleI know this as I made a batch of hobnobs earlier while DD was at Brownies :shhh:

Hmmmmm a Very Spend Day here
shiny new cambelt ( actually made of rubber so mechanic told me, so prob not shiny at all but you know what I mean), full service including spark plugs, oil filters, air filters, & various other lubricants, parts & such at a cost of £443.34
I really was being a spoilt brat & hoping that dear father would paybut have now learnt what the spares & repairs category is for in SOAs so will try to incorporate this into my budget.
I wont get a full months wages from new job until Jan so have decided to continue with home-job until then. The transfer from weekly to monthly pay is going to be a bit tricky to manage for a couple of months too.
Popped into town at lunch time to buy some lunch ( havent bought a working lunch in 10 years ) as had a blood donor session booked today so needed to keep my strength up. Spent £ 4.49 in Sainsburys on a few bits, but wont do that again for while. might make it a monthly treat or something. Before I had the debts & was working full time I used to spend about £5 on lunch every day, cant imagine doing that now even when DF.
Had a succesful blood donor session & then popped into the co op on the way home spending another £ 4.04 as too lazy to cook tonight.
Will need to stock up kitty bits at the week end & do some grocery shopping too. I'm planning to spend my day off looking for cheap work clothes & get my beauty supplies in.
More spending tomorrow then :rotfl:0 -
I shall be spending tomorrow too - I need loo rolls and food, I also need white vinegar and bicarb as I stupidly managed to switch on the wrong hotplate the other night..the hotplate that had a bag of bread sitting on it..now the hotplate has plastic bag and bread stuck to it:mad: Stardrops wont shift it either:mad:
Have a few bills to pay - I need to pay an invoice for an advert in some stupid magazine, am waiting for my leccy bill to come from Scottish Power - they read the meter 2 weeks ago. As I have difficulty seeing the numbers on the meter itself and I refuse to have estimated readings..they have to send someone to read it:D
Managed an NSD today too:cool: Booked a hair appointment and missed the colour sale:mad: but then they said that they will extend the sale for me so I get my colour done for half price:j
Just having a busy old time at the mo - trying to get businesses to sponsor a huge fun run that I am helping to organise as well as trying to find gigs for 'my' rockband..I also need to sort out a contract for them.0 -
Glad to hear you're keeping busy H - if you organise any gigs my way, do let me know0
