Hey beauties,
I have goddessed to within an inch of my life, and am now relaxing with a delicious G&T, ice & slice
Rosa, I too do the carry it round the shop thing & recently escaped without a gorgeous purple cashmere dress by doing this & yes, I have such a vivid imagination that I feeel that it is mine. So convincing is this act, that I have on more than one occasion gone to my wardrobe intending to wear one of these imagined items & been surprised that it's not actually there. Thanks for the tip about black cardigan :A
Todays spending included paying £15.83for the game that was advertised at £19.99 & was on Amazon for £36  I also bought some new kitchen scales for a very cheap £10 & now want to get the proper old fashioned style ones as I think they'd be great fun & educational for DD.
The printer I bought very cheaply from Tatco about a year ago is hard to get ink for. It's just a basic one & turns out that it was discontinued in the states from 2003 ... my guess is that Tatco bought a cheap job lot & flogged them off over here . Even pc world didnt have any. I eventually tracked some down on the internet & thanks to Quidco I'll be getting about £2 cashback & thanks to survey I have £3 in my paypal account so not as expensive as it might have been. I also have £3.48 tracked for another present i bought so it keeps rolling in. My next plan is to get Work Job Boss to let me do all the supplies ordering through Quidco on the promise of splitting the casback.
Next stop was Waitrose & very miffed to discover that I'd left it too late to sample the free mince pies with the voucher they sent me :doh:Anyway, total spend in there was £ 27.62 of which £23 was on food so I'm stil roughly keeping to my weekly grocery budget
Didnt like the price of cooking chocolate in there so stopped off at the co op on the way home & ended up spending another £14.85in there but of that only £6.20 was on groceries - so still in budget - the other £8.75 was on Pink Elephant & a jar of Quality Sweeties (to replace the jar that DD & I have already munched
)
DD made some fab cakes this afternoon & we sat & watched tv & I succesfully ignored the ever growing pile of receipts & paperwork on the windowsill.
Tomorrow we are off doing family stuff & it should be a NSD. I think we're quite well stocked so I'm hoping to have a few next week.
Oh dear, there's another Bruce Willlis film on & I might have to watch it with a bowl of supernoodles ...
I also got a £2 coin today0 -
Sounds like you had a great day yesterday Lula.
Your posts are always such a pleasure to read, even your rants put a smile on my face
Anyways I've just nipped in quickly while I was online doing my daily scratchcard, I'm hoping to wrap some christmas presents now as I was meant to do it yesterday and it didn't get done. Got a feeling my friends going to turn up soon with her two [STRIKE]brats[/STRIKE] kids in tow so best get started as it'll all have to go away again once they're round

Hmmmmmm,
good news :
I've had a NSD & have plenty of alcohol in the home. The memorial is all in place & Dad was very pleased with it.
not so good news :
My share of the cost has been put at £100 ( lucky I didnt buy myself the bag  ).
It is done & I now feel that my contribution towards memorials is complete, both financially, organisationally ( if that's even a word) & definitely emotionally. I am spent.
Whilst discussing how best to share the cost ( vulgar I know, but sadly necessary) Dad asked if I was feeling particularly poor & the urge to retort that cambelts arent free was almost overwhelming, but I managed to stifle it & said that I had been expecting to pay for the memorial so was able to contribute my share.
As we were leaving to visit my grandmother he muttered something about his friends inconsiderate offspring & I remarked at how lucky he was to have Little Sis & I. He didnt hear me say the " & I" & retorted "yes, but on the other hand, I have you ":mad:. How f***ing nasty was that. I was really hurt, but not about to let it show. I just repeated 'and I' at which point he launched into yet another lecture on grammar .
Later on when my grandmother asked if DD1 had got her car fixed, I told her clearly that it had been scrapped & how worried I was about her getting the train home at night. Not sure whether Dad even noticed as he sat there with his brand new car outside, 2 new bathrooms in his big house & new windows due to be installed in a couple of weeks but he could have loaned me or DD the cash for a £1,000 car 30 times over for the amount he has spent. Oh, & did I mention that when I first told him about DD1s car he said that she could have his .... then a week later gleefully told me that he had sold it for £2,500 cash .
Aplolgies for the rant, I need to get it out of my system & I just hope that should at some time in my life I have disposable cash, then I share it with those who would benefit most. Perhaps I am being unfair; as only those who have been really hard up know just how desperate & depressing life can be.
On a lighter note Barclaycard have increased my limit again :rotfl: I now have £8,800 max so what with my other CCs, I could have £13,000 of debt  thank goodness I had my lbm a while ago.0 -
Aww Lula, what a horrible thing for your dad to say
. I can only assume he was upset re the memorial, of course you were too, but you are much better at hiding it. What a hurtful thing to happen.
I hope you are okay and if it was me, I don't think I would be able to avoid saying something, he owes you an apology and you should tell him that.

Thanks sarah, it was really quite hurtful & felt like yet another dig that I didnt go to uni & that my sister did ... that she is happily married with her own home & a respectable medium status job whereas I have 2 daughters, no degree, no husband, a rented flat & a low status job. Yet another step along the path of inequalities, comparisons & conflicts that make up my journey through family life. I have lived with this & battled long & hard to overcome my feelings of inadequacy & I should point out that my sister never makes me feel like this, it is just my dad who can be so very arrogant & superior. It makes it very diffcult to remain objective at times.0

Sorry to hear family is making you feel rubbish.
Just thing how much your new boss/ colleagues rate you, how much DDs your friends and the kitty-cat love you, and how much we all missed you when you were absent for a few days!

Thank you all for your kind words :A
Family is one of the reasons I enjoy spending time on here. Admittedly, the family are unaware of the debts (both mine & DDs
) but if they were, then I feel a lecture would be more forthcoming than any type of support or encouragement . I certainly wouldnt want any help with paying the debts, but I truly think that no one can understand just how tough life can be unless they have experienced it & my Dad has certainly never experienced financial hardship.
Thanks to the counselling I had earlier this year I dont feel rubbish or inadequate :j, I think it's sad that my own family can be so scornful of my achievements & I also believe I am a much nicer & more sympathetic person than those who have led charmed lives.
I am valid in my own right & as I've said before, they can F*** Off because I am Fabulous :D0 -
Ah but Lula degrees aren't everything. I had to sit my dad down and explain to him that despite a barrage of A-levels in science and five long years at Uni studying a branch of biology I'd still managed to time the unexpected arrival of DD1 with my final year exams to which his reply was I guess they skipped the bit on the birds and the bees then. Fortunately he was over the moon once he'd got over the shock. Needless to say my degree was totally wasted and apart from a student placement I've never ever ever used any of it.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
