I got home, unloaded the shopping by the house & then did my speedy reverse up the road to the garage, hopped out to open it up & it made a horrible noise & stopped about a foot from the top. Wont go up, wont go down. I got the car in, but only by wrapping it in a grass skirt & telling her she was limbo dancer in her previous life ( as opposed to the can of dog food & roof tiles she'll be in her next life :shhh:).

Bluddy annoying as it means I cant close it when we go out ... dreading it being full of chaikeys rubbish when we get back .

Have a look at it tomorrow in the light. There's very few stuck things in this world that can't be unstuck with a hammer and a bit of oil...

    Hi Z -

it was light when it broke itself. It made the noise as I turned the handle & when I checked the runner channels at the sides I noticed one of the wires was hanging down unattached to anything, & the other wasnt to be seen at all.

Not to worry tho as I rent it for an astronomically unMSE price & no I aint giving it up :p so will ring up on monday to report the fault to landlord. If I was at work, I'd be stressed about it, but I'm not. I do wish the car with identical souding alarm in the next road wouldnt keep going off though - makes me jump up each time to see if some !!!!!! is trying to thieve my car. Yes, I do love my car :D.

You mean you don't have a car alarm where you can select the ring-tone? Shocking... ;)

What a donut I am - in all the excitement of rats, cats, cars & gin I completely forgot to say that I have relieved my spending guilt by removing another £100 from the gas & electricity fund & paid it to the Barclaycard.

I also have a rather cunning plan; clear Barclycard by the end of the month & then close the account. Continue to pay Virgin CC until clear & then close. Apply for new 0% Barclaycard, go on mammoth spending spree, get to hang out on DFW for a bit longer :D

Perhaps you could have a word with Gropey and suggest that you work fridays during term time but have them off during school holidays and have your wage adjusted so that it remains the same each month so that you're no skinter in the holidays despite doing fewer hours. That should generate a little more income towards the 30 day plan. Alternatively perhaps you could "bank" some of your additional hours unpaid to use during the hols which would remove the need to pay childcare.

E-bay listing is free (to some) today. Its really not that bad. It might be worth a trial go to get rid of a few things ,thus generating a wee bit more income.

30 weeks is 210 days. If you can figure out a way of making £20 a day between now and then you'll have shifted the entire debt. if you already have a surplus in your budget you'll need to make less than this. If you're determined enough you will find a way.

Hi lovely lady, not been able to get online while I was away so just caught up. Sorry to hear that you had a wobble. Here's my tuppen'orth.

    1. It is only the British who are obsessed with buying houses FACT. I will never be able to buy and have a life so choose life and to rent.
    2. Not having a man can be seen as a negative thing, on the other hand not having anyone to consider means that once the wee one moves out you are free to do exactly as you please, boats and all. For me, knowing that I will never have a hubbie and kids means that I am free to consider what I will have instead. It can be very freeing if you let it be, rather than seeing it as a lack!
    3. Job wise, can you be bothered to retrain and all that? Otherwise you may have to just accept this and work with it.

    Hope you're okay and XXX

Lula you need to join that Make £10 a day challenge to make some free money.

You're doing brilliantly but thinking of second job as a business is a great idea. BTW I really must send you those seeds.

I have spent the day cancelling things that I don't use which is money saved, I did get a refund from Mr Robbing !!!!!! who initially refused a refund for a course I had booked on and instead of doing a payback to my credit card, he sent me a cheque but I have paid that money off my card.

Have a sip of Gordons with some ice n a slice with a spritz of tonic.

    Hello all,

it's been a rather succesful day here in Lulaville.

Souk my lovely - glad you're back - was about to send out a search party for you :D.

Horace - have taken your very wise advice & am sipping & typing in turn :D

Moo - ebay sucks, end of. My spare time is far too precious. We're really not huge consumers & as I cant bear clutter & like to live in a simple, clean tidy home we dont really have much tat to get rid of.

As to working every friday during term time  Hell no, that's my [STRIKE]shopping[/STRIKE] sanity time. I've got a good system worked out already for covering holidays; due to working fridays whenever it suits me ;). I'm paid a monthly salary throughout the year & am only contracted to work monday to thursday but get overtime for fridays so by the end of this year I will have clocked up 6 weeks of paid hols :D.

I totally agree with your life plan Souk & have never really wanted a mortgage or husband either - all part of that commitment phobia I guess. I like to live as though I can walk away at any moment & have always been able to view any possession that I cant carry as just part of the background or scenery.

I just sometimes feel a bit concerned when others have very definite plans about where they're going & what they're aiming for while I never have done. I do like my job in that it pays ok, occupies me, I'm learning new stuff after having been in a rut & have met some really great people. As DD grows older I certainly plan to do more 'me' stuff ( & all without having to be home in time to cook some blokes tea :p)

Enough of that - I have CCs to clear so another £100 has been lopped off the Big Bad Barclaycard bringing that balance down to £300 & the total to £3,900.

I'm a bit of a squirrel when it comes to money, so always have some stashed away that I can lay my hands on if necessary ;).

It's absolutely pouring here & I love the prospect of yet another pyjama day tomorrow ( at DDs request) so I'll get on with some chores & we'll re-emerge when the weather brightens up again, should be a good day to paint the bathroom. We'll take the rest of the week one day at a time.

Good for you lovey. Bear in mind I was a rep for 6 years and at sea for 2 so I don't have a lot of STUFF either and could pack up and go very quickly if I need to. My friends laugh as my flat has no photos etc up and looks a bit like a hotel/showhome but that suits me as all the memories are in my head anyway and stuff is just stuff as far as I'm concerned. As long as I have my amazing friends and fabby family I'm ok. off training again tomorrow so if I can't get back on again have a lovely relaxing week and we'll catch up soon. XXX
