    Did somebody say museums? :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a great day with DD, the museum sounds like just my sort of place, and good to others get as much joy from those places as I do. :T

Anyway, as meanie makeup refuses to condone a £350 splurge on a leather jacket I decide to get some culture instead :D.

I thought of you in there makeup - there were lots of handpainted tiles in there by a local artist. Various designs, will pm you more details & am quite happy to get some for you & your new kitchen :D

Meanie?? .... ouch...harsh but fair sadly.

I love a museum too and am glad you thought of me and especially excited at thought of handpainted local tiles!!

Please do pm me! How fabulous! :j:beer:

I'm off to Germany on Saturday morning for a weeks hols with my parents. We're spending some time in Munich which has lots of museums so should be wonderful!

Tomorrow my parents are coming down and my Dad has promised to spend the afternoon doing jobs in my flat :j:beer::D

I think he is quite relieved that I have a new build unlike my sisters place where doing a few jobs involves digging a huge hole for a waste pipe in frozen ground, plasterboarding an entire room or laying metres and metres of decking....
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

You're right makeup - you are not mean, just very very sensible :D.

I'm off the whole idea of massive spending now anyway so thanks for seeing me safely through to the other side :A. As to the tiles - we're intending on popping in again very soon so will take some pics on my phone & also measure them ( discreetly of course ;)) & then pm you all details. Great that your Dad is willing to help & that it's not too strenous for him so wont put him off.

    Happy Holibobs to you.

I've had yet another lazy start to the day - the official line is 'working on my budget' but the reality is being fed chococlate cake & coffee made by DD :shhh:. I have pretty much got the budget sorted now - just waiting to hear exactly how much the rent increase will be ... but I've allowed an extra £80 a month.

I'm really quite excited about starting the new regime as I can see the end in sight & know that the amount I'll be paying to the CC will cover Council Tax Payments next year & also allow for some saving. Before I get carried away with splurges I intend to get a Rainy Day Fund of 3 months worth of outgoings stashed away. I'm totally buzzing about starting that & seeing my sig increasing for the right reasons :rotfl:.

The weather here is rubbish again & chilly too so DD decided that we should got the cinema again & has just popped to the shops to get some cheap sweets & popcorn. I've been looking at the cinema/theatre website & apparently there are savings to be had if I join up for a one off £25 fee. Will give it some thought.

I've made another payment of £100 to Barclaycard so now only owe £200 on it & the total debt outstanding is £3,700 so almost back to where I started last month :o.

Not quite sure how much wages are going to be this month & think I may have co**ed up my overtime record as I I dont think I counted the fridays as whole days worth :doh:but will just have to wait & see.

Toy Story 3D beckons, so bye for now

    xx

Thank you lovely Taxi lady :A

I'll be the first to admit that I've always struggled with this budgeting & being disciplined malarkey :o although strangely, I've always been very good at saving up for certain things, well anything to do with DD actually.

We went to see Toy Story 3 (DD insisted that it wouldnt be the same to see it on DVD) & I loved it. I asked at the box office about the potential discount, & discovered that the £25 fee really only offers discount on theatre tickets rather than cinema but they are worth about £5 off each ticket. I wont bother with the pantomime at that theatre this year as she goes with the school but if we could afford to go once every couple of months then it would still be worth it.

Part of my pan for the new budget is to allow a certain amount each month for entertaiment, shoes & clothes all together. This means that whatever is spent on shoes & clothes will reduce the available amount for entertainment .

I have a similar plan for the grocery budget. Rather than allowing myself a generous amount each month from my work-job wages, which I never ever manage to stick to & always find a way round :o, I've decided to use my home-job wages to cover groceries & the way it will work is that whatever I do earn each week will have to be split between clothes & shoes, entertainment, DDs pocket money & groceries . I've thought a lot about this & I reckon it's the only way I'm going to learn some discipline in my spending habits. I'm having to become a financially split personality just to get through the next 30 weeks. I'm having to treat myself like an irresponsbile teenager :rotfl:.

The only person I'll be cheating is myself. Using a weekly food budget will force me to think about what we actually need, realise that sticking to a meal plan will help & also be less scary if we only have to last until the next week for something rather than the next month which just sends me scurrying for the Barclaycard instead. There will be some weeks when there really isnt much work available & there will also probably be some weeks when I just feel really tired & lazy & dont want do any more work when I come home, but hopefully knowing that our food supplies for the following 7 days depends on my earning enough, will keep me motivated.

I keep telling myself it's only 30 weeks ... that wanst much consoslation when we were browsing in the i-store though :(.
