Local Parking Security LTD Excess Charge Notice

Hi guys, been a non registered observer of this forum for a long - long time so about time I registered as now I have a small problem. Today I have gone to move my car from the local beefeater/hotel car park and have discovered I have collected a fine for the grand old sum of £30 rising to £50 if not paid in one week. I am unsure this company are that legible and the slip enclosed in the yellow packet asks for a cheque and name and address. I am wholy scepticle about enclosing anything and wondered if I could cheekily ask for some much needed advice from anyone who could possibly help. Thanks to all & Martin for the money you've saved me and the family over the years,

Chris

  • On the rear it states that the dispute will be passed over to a claims company ''Ecess charge recovery dept'' and they will apply to the dvla for details :( (my old address that would be.... ) It mentions solicitors could be involved and other court admin fees incurred?
  • It sounds just like all the other ppc clones. The usual advice is not to contact, not to reply, not to mention who the driver was, file all the info you get and then ignore them. Ecess charge recovery dept is Fred on another desk. You will get about 6 threatening letters, each more so than the previous then it will suddenly stop when they realise you won't budge and move on to an easier target.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Firstly you should change your DVLA details because that in iteself is a criminal offence and more hassle than its worth!

Secondly, you have not collected a fine as these can only be issued by govenment bodies (councils police etc).

What you have is an invoice. Just as I can't fine you for getting this wrong, no company can "fine" you either!! A company or individual can only sue another person for costs incurred by breach of contract. As you haven't entered any contract with them, then you don't have to repay their costs ...

Christar - have you heard anything more from these people? Got a 'excess charge notice' fro them last night. Looks like a load of rubbish but just wondered if you'd had any correspondence from them?

There are real Excess Charge Notices that can be issued under decriminalised parking regulations by councils. If a private company has called one of their documents an Excess Charge Notice that would be Fraud (under Section 2) and a clear breach of Consumer Regulations in my opinion.

Do not pay. Just ignore everything to do [or from] with any private parking company. Don't appeal, write, call or engage in any way whatsoever. Above all read the rest of the threads on here that ask the exact same question and get [amazingly] the exact same advice; and yes..... I am shouting!!!!

  • No need to post this again. The advice remains the same, ignore them. You shouldn't have called them. This is all part of the scam.

    Bump!

Just to confirm there is no change to the current advice. Some of those post have been here for a while.

Somebody must pay these clowns if they are still running the same scam years later judging by the date on some of the previous posts!:T
