 Why hello, Annefromantrim! How are you?!And your baby?
No, the Masters did not get finished as my dissertation supervisor (who is all-powerful in the French system) decided she couldn't be posteriored any more and both stuck and twisted the knife in for me in France when I asked the Head of Department for some clemency. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be. I may go back sometime (in Britain!) to do some more book-reading, but not for now. (And besides, I already have another one which is technically much more valuable!)
Hope you are well now: are you studying more or working or looking after baba? Please call me 'Pickle'

Oh very dear.
I think it's fair to say that I've had a pretty pants day.
Have done a 9 hours shift.
Had many, many annoying, phaffy customers who seemed to make it their aim in life just to waste my time. A record haul, even.
Got unsuspectingly hauled into the works common area and the door shut behind me only to find myself faced with my manager, assistant manager and a pen and paper for a 'little chat' about my work. I was gobsmacked. Nobody has ever given me the impression that there was ever anything wrong with my work. And I had no idea that this 'little chat' was going to take place. (Best friend reckons that constitutes a 'formal meeting' rather than a 'little chat' and that they should have written to me and given me prior warning about it, and there there should not have been two of them.) Obviously I can't discuss what it was all about, but I am now deeply unhappy as it didn't feel like there was any need for any of it, and if I was looking for a job before, I'm now hunting another one like a cat stalking a particularly juicy-looking mouse.
To bed. I am working again early tomorrow afternoon so I need to be up early to apply for jobs. Pickle is about to kick butt. Please call me 'Pickle'

Sometimes things like this happen to give us the good kick up the butt we need to get going. Hopefully this will help you get more motivated to find something. I noticed reading your diary you tend to use agencies. My advice would be don't bother!! If possible try to look to apply to companies direct, they then don't have to pay anagency fee and are much more likely to give you an interview. It can take longer but is worth it.Pickle is about to kick butt

Never read threads when you've just woken up. I was thinking 'why the hell would a cat stalk a moose?'
I have to agree that does sound very unreasonable Pickle (both the work shenanigans and your Mum being somewhat changeable). The one good thing I'll say for my boss is that she's brutally honest when asked to be, none of this skulking around bearing grudges for some perceived shortcoming.0 -

Pickle is about to kick her dog's butt.
I was woken up and 4.20 this morning by my dog, wanting to go out for a wee/pooh/nocturnal cat chase, only to go down and find that she had already poohed all over the kitchen floor. Now Pickledog is a very clean dog and would normally only do something like that if she was ill, bless her, so I let her out, then had to clean up all the pooh. It was a horribly smelly job for that time of day.
What a crappy start to the day. :rotfl:
As a result am up a bit later than I wanted as I couldn't sleep when I got back to bed, but am about to shower and start on one particular job application for a job I would really quite like. Please call me 'Pickle'

I don't know if I can sat that it's bearing grudes, but I've never heard the definition of a 'little chat' being a full-blown meeting before.
And as for the 'moose', it might depend on your accent? Remember those Maynard's Fruit Gum(?) adverts from yesteryear with the mad Scotsman* and the phrase 'Hu set this joose loose aboout this hoose?' He could have eaily been stalking a 'moose'!

Had another 9 hour shift at work and was really, really ill for the most of it, but was determined that there was no way I was going home as I didn't want it to be thought of as 'because of yesterday'. Have uniform in the wash and am going to bed as soon as it's out. It was a NSD at least: I took my lunch to work, but couldn't eat much of it.
Am at least feeling MUCH better now, cos I felt truly pants before.
