I think people at work thought I'd finally gone round the bend when I literally (at the time I posted that message) shouted "Pickle!" out loud when I saw your thread appear in the "New Posts" list
Got some very odd looks indeed.
Tee hee!But does that mean you aren't subscribed?!
I'm around quite a lot, just not so much in diaryland these days. Naughty I know but I feel a little 'invaderish' when I come here now. Like I don't belong. An outcast!
I guess I can understand that. But you will always 'belong' to a point as you started here. And hey, you can offer advice to newbies!LeeSouthEast wrote: »Not a great deal is new in LalaLee Land. I may be the other side of the zero, but nothing much has really changed in a financial sense. I'm still living frugal, in an attempt to get enough money saved up to move out of my parents' place by next year*. Work is throwing overtime out like confetti, which is helping, but it just means I spend the majority of my life at work or travelling there and back.
Not ideal from a "life" point of view, but short term pain, long term gain, I guess!
* I could move out now, but courtesy of where I've been previously, I want an £8-10k emergency fund saved up first, and about the same in a 'new house setup' fund, to cover furniture, electricals, white goods, home cinema, and so forth. I'm not putting another bean on long-term credit again beyond a mortgage when the time comes.
I've decided to rent next year when I move, and then hack away at saving a big deposit. I can't stay at home for more than another 12 months as I will literally go insane.
How about you??? I see you've had a few ups and downs.
Ah, Lee, you are my twin in spirit! I'm hoping to move out soon as well, but am thinking of going for a furnushed flat as 1) I'll never move out if I have to save for all that stuff; 2) I want to go travelling as soon as I've saved up enough, so the fewer things I have to leave behind and store, the better.
As for the ups and downs, tonight is currently an up, and we shall see what happens from hereon in.
Stay tuned, and best of luck with the saving up! :TPlease call me 'Pickle'

Shockingly, it does. I only recently discovered subscriptions! This has been rectified.I guess I can understand that. But you will always 'belong' to a point as you started here. And hey, you can offer advice to newbies!
DFW/Diaryland was my birthplace. You're right. I do find myself picking apart SOA's quite a bit in DFW, but I rarely venture into Diaryland. I will make a conscious effort to change this from now on!Ah, Lee, you are my twin in spirit! That's one thing I've never done is go proper travelling, despite always wanting to. Sure I've been on holidays, but that's not real "travelling". A friend at work did it about 4 years ago; she sold her flat, her car and most of her possessions and took a year career break. Best thing she ever did she says! So good luck following your own dream, it'll be well worth it. My only request is you keep a photoblog so we can follow your adventures!!
I had briefly looked into furnished places, but I have a Master Plan for my perfect home, and doing it to someone else's decor just wouldn't work no matter how neutral they are. Ideally it'd also involve me owning the property, but that's just not viable in 12 months, especially in the area I want to go (much closer to work).
Looks like we're both in need of some luck, Pickle. I wish you the same. :beer:Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

Aggghhh I feel really guilty after saying how good a&l have been for me and OH, sorry things didn't work out well.:o:cool:
S'not you're fault, Emmie: you said they were good, Ed said they were bad and I made my decision (admittedly the extra £150 kind of swayed me into taking the risk) I can always change back (and will) once I've got my money!
From now on their name will never darken the doorstep of your forum, you'll get your revenge when you take your cashback money and run in a couple of months, let no bank cross pickle and get away with it
Indeed. A&L, you couldn't organise a party in a brewery and Pickle will not accept such financial fickleness. As a result, I will be leaving a vinegary trail behind me as I run away from you in a few months. Be afraid. Be very afraid: you will all slip and fall over in my liquidy wake!
Nice to see you around and about, emmie: I'm glad to see that your debt-busting is going so well. :TPlease call me 'Pickle'

Auntie went home today, which is a pity, as having her round has been lovely.
Bought dinner out at work. BAD Pickle!
Have been a bit naughty and bought a few second-hand books and jute bags on line. Have spent about £10.
Am working a lot this week but have the day off tomorow so need to apply for some new jobs. Will see how it goes. Really need to make sure that I get round to it as I didn't this weekend (was a bit hard with a guest at the house).
Off to bedfordshire, I think. Perhap via some Spooks. Please call me 'Pickle'

Did you ever finish your Masters? Mine was interrupted by a baby but I pleaded for and Got an extension and finally finished. Do finish, you'll feel so pleased with yourself and will be more valuable and employable.
Tomorrow is the last day for putting money into Isa s and I have to drive over the Glanshane Pass to put money into my favourite Building Society and transfer the money which was earning .1 or .01 % in Abbey National. Hope you continue to make inroads on you credit card debt.0
