Alas, no. By the time I got up, through my daughterly duties as breakfast maker and ready for work it was too late, and I'm fairly certain that they won't be open at quarter to twelve on a Sunday night as I'm not long back from work and Mother's Day dinner at a restaurant.
First thing tomorrow, methinks...but first, some sleep of my own. Zzzzzz...Please call me 'Pickle'

[ Bloody computer just deleted my post!]
I did ring them, and boy, was it worth it: they increased my £180 overdraft to...£200!
They said that I could send them a letter asking them to match my existing one if I could fulfill a large list of criteria which he read to me down the phone, one of which was that my account had to be in credit two days of the month. If it was in credit two days of the month I essentially wouldn't NEED an overdraft increase, and they are just ensuring that only those who don't really need an OD get one. Nice one, A&L.
I knew that my low income was going to count against me at some point, and I think that this is it. I'm not holiding out a lot of hope for the CC, but we shall see. Even if I didn't get to do a complete BT, a partial one would help.
I've just got home to a pile more bumpf from them, including a list of all the DDs to be transfered. A few of them are old, dormant ones I forgot to cancel, but I guess I had better transfer them as well, then cancel them when they get there, else I might not be eligible for the £100 transfer fee which states that ALL DDs must be transfered over.
And now, the good news:
1) I'm working a stupid number of hours so next month I should be (relatively) loaded.
2) I'm due £47 Qudico money.
3) The tax office owe me £284-something, which I can claim it back at the end of the tax year and it can go towards paying the OD off, along with the Quidco money.
4) I get paid on Friday. But it won't go far (as per usual!), and I need to ~£60 of stuff for that blummin' nail course. Ebay here I come...
Basically I need to try and cover the OD in case HSBC pull it when the DDs transfer to A&L and they figure out what I am up to. I'm still short, so I need to get Ebaying etc. and see what I can do. Hmm...will ponder tomorrow. Tonight I need some sleep. Night all. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz...Please call me 'Pickle'

Just been into town to the tax help hut thingumy. What a waste of time. They were about as helpful as chocolate teapots and it seem that I have blanked out the pain of how hard it is to reclaim tax from other years when it has happened (and has been for smaller amounts which have been less desperately needed). I have to wait for P60 etc., then send it off etc. I can get it paid into my wageslip next month, which seems ages away, but I'm wondering if it might not actually be quicker given the number of other people who would be searching for a rebate as well at this time of year? That wouldn't come through until the 21st of next month, but at least it would happen then.
Town was a complete nightmare. I have never seen such a large number of people unqualified to take the wheel of the car. Someone must have given them all LSD or something. Unbelieveable.
Am back and worn out. Have wasted half my one full day off on nothing and it's rather vexing. Now have housework to do on behalf of mother dearest, and then get back to sorting my own pile of poo out. And walk the dog.
I lead a very exciting life, don't I?! *Insert rolly-eyed smiley here*Please call me 'Pickle'

Um...well with the £100 and the £50 is more than I got with the other guys, but in all honesty, it depends on whether the HSBC pull my overdraft or not. That's the clincher. I might wait a few days before sending that list of the direct debits back until it's into April, so if HSBC pull it, and give me a theoretical month notice, then with my pay coming in before the end of next month, it would mean that I could clear it as 1) I should be getting paid a lot (compared to my usual meagre standards); 2) I could see about getting my tax rebate added to into it.
Seems like the best I can do under the circumstances. I can fish for another CC if necessary later. I'm playing at probabilities, TBH, so I won't know for certain until I send that DD redirect slip off.
Seem like a plan? Please call me 'Pickle'

Just finished 'The Debt Diet' by our very own Martin. It's well worth a read, and explained lots of things I didn't know about things like mortgages which are not currently applicable to me, but will be one day. It's kind of like financial contraception: stuff I thought you knew got explained more in-depth, things I didn't know are explained, and overall it will stop me getting a nasty, unexpected shock someday. Great stuff! Please call me 'Pickle'
