Hmm...just received my A&L paperwork: I have an account (with some sort of linked savings account) with a meagre £180 overdraft, and still no word on the CC. I rang up to see what was going on with the CC and was told that it is still at the underwriters, and that I ought to expect a decision within the next few days, and a letter within 5-7 days. I wouldn't have thought I was that complicated!

Thinking about this, I might live to regret this move if the HSBC revoke my current overdraft (£1000), so I shall have to wait and see what goes on. Perhaps they will give me some stupidly low CC deal, if anything, or increase my rate to include what the overdraft and CC would be in a cynical attempt to earn more interest off me. If I don't get the CC deal, I would have been better to have done nothing at all. Oh dear.

In further MSE news, I decided to go to the cinema this morning to see Avatar as I haven't been in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages, today's my day off, and it's cheaper in the morning. I'm in the cinema for 10 a.m. waiting for it to start, only to be told that there is some sort of problem with the 3D projector so they have had to cancel the showing. As a result we got a refund and could go and see whatever filme we wanted instead. I had to wait around the best part of the hour, but I went to see Alice in Wonderland 3D. It was very good! :D The 3D is AMAZING! And I'm never going to be able to watch QI again without seeing Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat. ;)

Better go. Have to see a friend about a cup of tea...:D

The CC for A+L is completely seperate to the bank accounts and they take ages..the o/d limit is very low...but perhaps it goes in relation to earnings but they are quite good at putting them up.
Glad you enjoyed the film in the end although it wasn't the one you went to see.

I haven't been to the cinema in ages as I'm broke, but it was well worth it for the 3D Alice. I would recommend it as a special treat, if you can afford it before it goes to DVD: it really wouldn't be the same watching it at home. Orange Wednesday's, or some other special offer, perhaps?

My only worry is that when they pull my DDs and standing orders over to the account, and when HSBC has happened, that the latter reaslises that I'm technically 'leaving' them, and pulls the larger £1000 overdraft, which I couldn't afford to pay back all in one. That could leave me seriously up the creek if it happens! £1000 - £180 = £820!

I fancy taken the kids to see Alice in 3D but it would cost me a small fortune, need to find a way to fund it/get it cheap......

Taxi is right about the CC - it is an MBNA card and different to the actual Bank.

When I moved to A&L as well they agreed to match my OD - might be worth a try?
    1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j
    2nd debt - MBNA - £6,618.52
First in many many to go - baby steps and all that!
First lump sum to go - fingers crossed!
    08/06/09 - [STRIKE]£11,497.68[/STRIKE] NOW - £9,757.75

What on earth would I say to them? Please advise (bearing in mind that I have a small income).

Hmm...could you tryOrange Wednesdays/waiting for it to come on at Kids Club (or whatever is similar in your local cinema)?

Am worried to hear it's an MSNA card as have received direct mailshots from them which I was leaving as a last resort. If they don't want to know about me as an A&L customer, I can only suppose that they won't want to know about me if I contact them directly.

*Scratches head* Thinking about it, if they make my overdraft so small, what are the chances of a decent CC offer? :(

It's the old card that is MBNA the new one is directly from Santander.
I still have my old one...the new one took 6 weeks and only gave me £500!!! an insult as mine are usually high limits...
So I did the BT to the MBNA one instead..lol
They are usually very good on overdraft limits though mine started at £1500 and I asked them to up it to £2000 in jan and they did.
