Wasn't it a fakeout? I'd read reviews stating that she already had freezers and cupboards packed with food and basically let her family and friends take the strain of her expenses - are they inaccurate?0 -

:rotfl:What a great phrase, yet most unfortunately accurate! Yes, pay-wise I think this next month will be much better, but in terms of work experience and getting a new job, I'm not sure how much better it will be.edinburgher wrote: »Getting back into reading is a good idea and while it was one of my resolutions for 2010 it can prove surprisingly difficult to find the time, can't it? I've just finished reading Chocky (some John Wyndham light relief) and have started a collection of short stories by John Steinbeck. I blame the internet for ruining my concentration - I used to be able to read two {short} novels in a day!
How goes the exercise?
Yes it can, but I'm finding the 'No more books...' challenge is helping quite a lot there. I joined the toiletries one as well and that' proving quite useful as it's giving me a goal (and I think you and I both seem to work better when there is one of those about!) If you have a lot of books at home feel free to join, and if not try setting yourself an aim for reading X number of books in the next month. Even if you start small, it might galvanise you into reading more. I reckon there's a fair chance I'll get through more than 2 given that I'm most of the way through 2 at the minute (OK, I started the Brand one before the start of the month so that's kind of cheating), but I read a few pages of 'La Dame aux Camelias' and I REALLY want to crack on with that, then 'The Count of Monte Cristo' (2 volumes), so we shall see. If I get through La Dame, and start Le Comte, I'll be happy.
Exercise...:o less good. Haven't been for any of my walks yet. I need to wash my hair before work so it won't be today, so I'll have to make a point of having one tomorrow. and catching up at the weekend. Music han't been great, either. And I keep forgetting to take my vit & calcium tablets. Naughty Pickle!
Right, I'm off to do some of the above and wash my hair. In MS terms, I spent a lot yesterday, but I've had several days where I have spent nothing unecessary, which is the most damage limitation I can hope for at the minute. Hopefully I will have the chance to correct any damage next month. *Sigh*Please call me 'Pickle'

Bought lunch out yesterday as I didn't leave myself enough time to make any (£2.99 ), plus a bottle of wine last night (£4.99 , it seemed a good idea at the time), plus a CD under the influence of the bottle of wine (I should have left that til the end of the month. Naughty Pickle, but oooooh yes, favourite artists has just released a new album: woo hoo!
(:o )). (I did use Quidco, though, even though it doesn't appear to have tracked it yet. I'll get some of the money back. Hopefully.

I know, but it's one of my favourite artists who rarely ever releases anything and it cost £8.95. Well worth it for a musician of that calibre. For me this counts as a 'need', although I should have waited until I got paid. I've been very strict about this, except for this one slip up. (Honest!)

Michael McGoldrick, a flautist and uillean pipe player, and all-round Celtic music God. Unless you listen to folk music you are unlikely to have heard of him, but he's a Big Noise in those circles, and for good reason as well. (Since you are Scottish, he plays with Capercaillie, who you probably will have heard of.)Please call me 'Pickle'

I've heard of Capercaillie - my parents have seen them in concert several times and I used to work in the 'specialities' department of a huge HMV (read 'classical music, country, easy listening, folk and anything else that isn't particularly popular with the kids' for this

They are stonking: massively talented musicians and a singer with a voice to die for. Well worth seeing in concert, if you are into that sort of thing (and maybe even if you aren't)! *Insert folk-geek smiley*. I still like lots of music which is popular with the kids, though...Lady Gaga, anyone?!
I crumbled and bought a new external hard drive yesterday. I have no excuse, (and now another £4.50 in Quidco) other than my room is a complete state yet again and the CDs which I specifically remember locking in their box have developed feet and are running around my room. They need to be copied and locked down for good!
It's stupid, I know, but if I can get that done it will mean that I am a bit more in control of my life. Sort of. I mean, I've wanted to get a few things to get my room/life a bit more sorted (apart from getting a new job/life): CDs sorted, photos sorted, paperwork sorted, and when I went upstairs yesterday to start doing it and moved one pile of paper to find a big pile of CDs underneath it, I just went 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!'     and needed to do something about it. So I went and bought an external, and copied the music already on my laptop onto my hard drive (it took AGES and don't start it at 10.55 on a Sunday night if you have any sense!), and I can now start putting the rest of the CDs onto my laptop when I delete the current library from iTunes on my laptop. (At least, I think, I had better check.) Baby steps, cos this takes a serious amount of time...but I will be glad when it is finally done.
Still no paperwork from A&L, and CD was only posted today, it seems, despite saying that it was sent on Saturday. Grr! I want to sit at the front door and wait for the mail to arrive like a dog does when they want to rip it to pieces. Please arrive tomorrow, CD and paperwork, while I have a day off to appreciate one and analyse the other (and a bit of vice-versa!).
Can't believe it's 10 p.m. already. Where has the evening gone? Please call me 'Pickle'
