Aww pickle, i'm sorry to hear that things are even rockier with your mum. My family is a bit like that, my mum has things against my cousins and my dad doesn't get on with my aunt so when I get married it's already been stated that they won't be invited, never mind who I bloody want there! I think the best thing will be to move out but I understand totally that you need a "proper" job to get there. Any interviews lined up soon?

Poor Pickle, sounds like you're going through the wars a bit at the moment!

This party idea sounds like it's causing more stress than it's worth. Maybe it might be worth considering holding fire on the party, saving the money you would have spent and using this towards the eventual costs of moving out?

A flat share might be an idea for a few months (yes, I know you get some total weirdos, but it might be a great way to build a contingency fund fast before getting your own place and without the stress of home). To the best of my knowledge flat shares or rooms to let are usually fairly minimal in terms of minimum contract stays etc.

Alternatively, might you consider being a lodger? We stayed with a professional and her unemployed husband for a few months when we came down South and while it was awkward trying to talk to the somewhat chavvy husband, they left us to our own devices as much as possible and were perfectly friendly. Again, not a great solution, but being a lodger is less disruptive than flat sharing in some ways, because you're essentially slotting in to an established home order (as opposed to getting used to living with a bunch of strangers who don't know each other).

Anyway, best of luck figuring it out :)

Thanks, ladies. I may decide just to do something more low-key and unusual as it would have to be one hell of a party to justify this level of earache. Quite what, I don't yet know, but I have plenty of time to decide. ;) Pity, cos in all honesty, I would have loved a party: nearly everyone in my family has had one and I couldn't have a 21st at the time, so this would kind of be its replacement. *Sighs*

That's a very good saying, PaF. Thanks! I need to remember that.

I think I need to ratch it up a notch or two on the job-hunting front. I've been looking out, but I could do more. And I need to have a bit more confidence at putting myself in for things as well. I can do this. I will do this. And then when I have got 'any old job' I will do what I can about getting a 'career'.

    Such a lot to do...

Its exciting isn't it, when theres so much to do, theres so much of life to live, so much to embrace, so much not to take for granted, so much to learn, so much to be and see and enjoy. (Getting carried away a bit there!)

Wishing you all the v best in your job search.

Thanks. And I wholeheartedly agree with the above, except when you fell 'stuck', as I think I have a bit this past while. I'm looking for the solvent to 'unstick' me! ;)
