but there will come a time (when I'm down on my luck, probably), when I might not have one and it will mean I will need to plan better. Lesson learnt.
It just takes a bit of practice. I've taken 18 months of budgeting to be able to predict what will be left in my bank account to within £1 the day before payday
Ps. The answer is £10 -
I bought a small notebook today to carry around with me so I can make notes of everything I buy and then budget accordingly so I won't have any surprises when I check my online banking! A bit anal I know but it's the only way I'm going to ever learn!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

I've been doing that (apart from the last few days), but the problem is that I only count how much I've spent, not how much is left in my account when that is taken out. That's how I didn't account for the DVLA cheque as I had counted it as gone when it hadn't. I need to keep the balance in my diary as well. :rolleyes:
No BB win today, but an e-mail in my inbox about 'people abusing the generous introduction offer'. Who, me?!
In case I don't make it back here tomorrow, may you all have the very happiest of starts to 2010 and a great time in bringing it in! :TPlease call me 'Pickle'

It took me many years before the whole budgeting thing truly clicked - I thought that I was on top of things before that, but yet we still had things unaccounted for, and less money/a greater overdraft than my back-of-envelope calculations had predicted.
Thankfully, 18 months ago, we had the required shift of braincell, and it has been much easier since, simply because I have learned to look for/check/account for everything, rather than just the things I remember, and as a result we have had far more success in reaching the end of the month without the previous level of stomach churning panic.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Funny you should say that, its taken me this entire year from my LBM, to streamline my spending to the level it needs to be so I am living within my means. Its very tight but very doable, and has taken a lot of practise and doing a spending diary was key to finding out where I was going wrong.My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
May 2013 £124,080.27= £37,903.50 paid off WOW!!!!! Well done! There is a guardian angel out there! :AI'm visualising success, debt freeness, and happy days!:T0 -

Right, just home from work and preparing for the upcoming celebrations. Splashed out on £14 for bubbly (well worth as I consider it a statement of intent for the next year and decade) and am definitely doing my best to get out of where I work after what I heard today while I was there.
Tonight, may all your problems be little ones, dear reader. Happy New Year!Please call me 'Pickle'
