Our celebrations ran the gamut from joyful to arguments, to mental health concerns among some of our more senior guests!
Happy Christmas to you all the same Pickle - congrats on getting the overtime in when the going's good.
Thanks Ed, and I'm glad to know it isn't just me.Essentially I just need to move out: I need my own space, but that's not likely to happen in the foreseeable future.
I won £5.24 on BB tonight. It has been transfered to the savings account before it has even had the chance to get transferred back into my current account!
Speaking of which, I need to get a new one. My current one has gone from being market leader at the time of opening to absolutely pants. I think that's on my 'to do' list for the next few days...
Happy Hogmanay, Ed. May the haggis be with you! Please call me 'Pickle'

While you realise this and it sucks, try not to obsess about it, or staying at home will just become even more of a chore! Stay the course you're on just now, pay your debts down until you feel confident that you'll be able to keep them on a reducing footing and then look for new quarters once you've built up a bit of a cash buffer.
I moved back to the parental home 4 years ago after a relationship breakdown and I can certainly appreciate how stressful it is feeling as if you have no personal space
I won a fiver on BB, but it turned into a bonus as I didn't withdraw it (as opposed to cash). Is this normal, or have I been done because I didn't withdraw it?May the haggis be with you!
It is. It's on the bottom shelf of my fridge :rotfl:0 -

I know that's the sensible thing to do, but it makes me want to be anything BUT sensible! :rotfl:
As for the BB thing, I'm not sure as I've never let the grass grow for long enough. Sorry!
And I've just cracked...after it became apparent that I don't need to pay off the OD in Jan, my aim became to get to under £1000 for the New Year. Then I decided I needed to save all my cash to get my own place (which I still wouldn't be entirely happy about given the potential situation with what might go on), but I took a look at my finances and decided that I COULD NOT go into the New Year with more than £1200 to pay off on the CC so I did some financial fenagaling and realised that if I paid £212.09 off the CC now (which I can now afford but I had to be sure so I didn't do it before Christmas as soon as I got paid), that that amount, added to the minimum payment due to go out in the first few days of January would mean that I now 'only' owe £999.99 to my CC, which is (just!) under £1000. I'm now in single figures!
As a result I changed my signature which is a bit of a liberty for the following reasons:
~ The payment has not yet officially come off the CC
~ The min. payment doesn't come off until after NY, but it's automated and WILL happen and so I can count that as though it has. Honest!
~ Oh, carp: the fly in the ointment: I just realised that when doing my calculations as to how much money that will leave me that I forgot to take the min. payment into consideration, so that will mean I will have just under £50 less than I had thought to play with until I'm paid. It won't mean I can't pay any bills or anything, and I have £60 that my mum gave me to buy clothes if I need to, but I'll make it, even if I don't go out for the week before I get paid. Ah well, I'll survive - and I'm more debt-free! :T I can always move my BB winnings back from my savings account if necessary. It's not much, but it's a start, and if I really, really need anything desperately (like petrol to get to work), I can pay for it using my CC (oh, the irony!), then pay it back as soon as I get paid. Naturally the words 'last' and 'resort' spring to mind.
Ah well, good and bad then - mainly good!
P.S. Have won £2.50 so far today on BB with most of the tickets left to play. Let's see what the rest of the day brings. Please call me 'Pickle'

Thanks Homegrown!
As for BB, I have tried a combination of things: I tend to play over about 5 games, some early and some late. I have tried the whole buy-them-all-early thing, and even the buy-them-all-late thing. (That has been on the days I have been too busy to buy them in the morning and have finished work late. If you go on the 50p games there seem to be less takers and I think those are the ones I have (aminly) won on, but I have no idea how to check to see if it is true or not.) It just depends. Say a game is 'buy 5, get 1 free', I tend to buy 5 but not greater multiples of that, so I spread it around a bit more. I don't seem to win anything too big (although everything is gratefully accepted), but I once won £31.03, a most random but welcome amount. Well done on your win! :T What kinds of games do you buy tickets for, and roughly how many do you buy at a time? Please call me 'Pickle'

Congrats on beating down the CC debt Pickle - you're obviously feeling motivated!
Can't update my dratted sig for a couple of days yet. What sort of monsters pay their staff on the 31st of December and make them avoid the sales?0 -

Have just snowballed and it means that my debts should be payable in 7 months (with the 7th month being a smidge over £10), so it means that I should be able to pay it all of without incurring any additional overdraft payments if all goes to plan. My OD comes to an end at the beginningg of the seventh month so I need to try to find an extra £10 from somewhere so as not to accrue charges, but I think that should be do-able (Bingo Britain, perhaps?!).
Here's to the 6 month challenge!

Was supposed to go for dinner with some friends tonight but it's not happening.  I guess I can look at it as 'money I haven't spent', but now I'm starting to think that might be MSE-ing a bit too much as I haven't seen them for a while. I think I will make a point of applying for some jobs in the meantime. Please call me 'Pickle'
