MSE is both a blessing, and a curse. I had to slap myself stupid the other day when I was considering not going to see someone simply because it would be cheaper.
MSE is NOT about depriving yourself... MSE is NOT about depriving yourself... MSE is NOT about depriving yourself... MSE is NOT about depriving yourself... MSE is NOT about depriving yourself... if I say it enough it might sink in.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j

The dinner hasn't happened because I am too stingy to fork out the cash, rather because I'e felt a bit 'added on' to the barely-existing plans. I'm trying to console myself (but I'm not tooo bothered, overall!).
And Lee, be careful: I think I detect a puritanical street in you, m'boy!Please call me 'Pickle'

I know what you mean about taking it a bit too far. I was thinking about my budget the other day and I really left no "fun" money in it. So I decided to do a little sale shopping and now I'm back in my OD. But the important thing is now I feel that I don't need to spend because I treated myself. If your treat is to see your friends then you should go (but only if you feel included that is!)Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

I just won another £10 on BB (making £12.50 today), so I am tempted to pay that off as well. And the other BB winnings I got, which I was saving. I think I hae a problem. I think I need help. Stop me, somebody...!
And Ruby, no I didn't go, but not due to money, more due to the not-sure-what-they-were-playing-at thing.Please call me 'Pickle'

Ah I hate it when "friends" play mind games with you like that heheEmergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

I don't know if they meant to, but it irritated me all the same. I asked my brother's opinion (he's normally very good at seeing both sides of the situation) and he says he wouldn't have gone, so I don't think I'm too far wrong.
Have looked at my online savings account to see about transferring the money I put in back out to pay off my CC, but due to the annoying nature of online tranfers it will not be possiible. Boo! Still, despite Essex's best attempt to tempt me into rounder numbers, I may leave my total like that for the time being. No I won't, what am I talking about? I can't take the £7.74 I've transfered for the time being, but I would be an interest-paying fool not to knock it off when I can.
So here we go: £10 off the CC. In fact, I'll throw caution to the wind as I have enough money in my account to cover it: £17.74 off the CC. May I get into the £800s with alarming ease! :TPlease call me 'Pickle'

Typical!! Leave this diary for one evening and I miss a nice figure like £999.99
Pickle's actually a small time bank robber and she pays off her 'earnings' once she gets a chance to take the balaclava off :rotfl:

:rotfl:I'd have to be VERY small-time to be stealing silly amounts of £10 and under: I'd get more from mugging old grannies, I'm sure!(Not that I would, of course.)
I've just looked at my online banking and notices a few alarming transactions have gone through that I hadn't taken into account such as Boots purchases on 27th and my blummin' DVLA cheque for £20 for my new photo ID licence which was only cashed TODAY despite being from early December. My financial planning is evidently not as bullet-proof as I thought and I need to leave a slightly bigger buffer in my current/savings account to account for such things as this, and start not only listing what I'm spending in my diary but how much that will leave me in my account when it has gone out. I have a buffer at the minute, but there will come a time (when I'm down on my luck, probably), when I might not have one and it will mean I will need to plan better. Lesson learnt. :rolleyes:Please call me 'Pickle'
