    just a thought can OH get a bar job or something to tide you over while you get another lodger?

    Mr Fresian suffers from severe depression and while we're managing on my wages I would rather he didn't. Getting him to college can sometimes be hard enough.

    We're not thinking about another lodger until the new year as it's the first time we've had the house to ourselves in five years! As it's tight but we're not overspending I'm happy to leave it for now, enjoy the peace, and think about it later!

    Mr Fresian's student loan still isn't in, and I have a week until payday with £10 in the bank and he's going to cost £12 in bus fares alone :eek:
    I presume thats 10xsingle journeys @ £1-20? If its a Lothian bus - do you have one of those red ticket machines at a bus stop near you or wherever he gets the bus back home from? Singles are only £1.10 from them... :confused:
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

I earn "too much" :mad:

    just a quick question about this - from what i remember, Mr Fresian is your lovely boyfriend not your lovely husband. So how can they take into account what YOU earn when you're not related?

    enjoy your friday! :j

    I'd guess because they are living together as though they were husband and wife? That certificate only makes a difference these days when "they" want it to!

    FF - you're doing well again. Bit of a pain about the bus fares leaving you short and student loan being slow arriving but I gather there is lots and lots of prpoblems with those this year? How on earth they think people are going to cope goodness knows. As for the lodger thing, don't blame you at all - have some "you time" while things are ticking along - you can always fall back on it if you need to.

    My OH also has a book from Bangzo as part of his christmas pressie! :D

    Evening all!

    I'm home from Aberdeen and glad to be back in a city that isn't entirely composed of greyness. :jI know it's the Granite City and all, but jeez....

    I have spent money I don't have (Mea culpa...) whilst up the road as my mother expresses joy/sadness/seeing me by shopping, so I always feel as though I should be keeping up with her. :o

    So, spends this weekend have been:

    £14.99 on a laptop bag (It's lovely though and has many pockets)
    £19.99 on ipod speakers for my brother's birthday :mad: He's going to be buying me something good though for my birthday in December :D
    £11 on my mum's Christmas present
    Some money in Primark (Less than a tenner and some of it is going back)

    Which means that much of my good work in doing loads of overtime has gone the way of the Brown Creek and there is narry a paddle to be found :o

    Still, positives from this...

    1. I still have £47 in my instant-access savings, which offsets most of the damage from this weekend
    2. I should have money leftover this month from the groceries/entertainment budgets which can go to the credit card as well
    3. Mum's present is now sorted as is my brother's birthday and I have already bought his Christmas present, so that's fine too

    Also, I have been online tonight and bought some groceries from Sainsbury's which came to £50.20 (To allow me to use the £10 off code they sent me for not having shopped with them for ages!) I also went through Quidco as I haven't been shopping with them for at least six months, and if that goes through it will be another tenner :j

    My mum bought a Radley bag this weekend (Oh, how I covet it....!) and it came with a free purse in a nice gift box and I'm going to get my bum in gear next weekend and Ebay it along with some other things I have had sitting in the house gathering dust. There will be no overtime at work for a while so I need to try and make my own money.

    Mr Fresian found out on Friday that he's off college next week (Edinburgh schools week off) so we save on busfares :j Payday on Friday and only four days to get through :D

    Money is thus...

    Spends = £0 :eek:
    PAD = £6.70
    Groceries = £22.66
    Entertainment = £8.16
    Purse = £7.60

    Five days until payday!

    My expenses for last weeks trips to Glasvegas have been approved, so that has gone straight off the credit card. That will make it look a little better when payday comes...

    My last direct debit has come off the Alliance and Leicester account, leaving me £195.05 overdrawn. I really need to try and clear this soon as it won't be long before they are charging me daily fees for being overdrawn.

    Morning f_f. Do you sometimes feel like you spend half your life number crunching? I know i do. I was feeling quite fed up about money yesterday morning, but once i'd redone my budget and drawn squares to colour in :D, i felt better. The only downside is i can't colour in a square until payday which is 9 days away!

    Hope you have a good day ;)
    One step at a time ;)
  • That lovely laptop of yours deserves nice bag to keep it cosy.#

    Is the bag purple too??
