well, i must be completely past it as i don't even know what a GOW is!

i ordered a free book from bangzo last week, the book jacket was very scratched but the book itself is fine. good job it was only for me, tho, i wouldn't have liked to give it as a present.

got more or less the last of DS2's xmas pressies from ELC today - had 20 quids worth of vouchers for setting up a direct debit to his child trust fund (which i suspect i will cancel now i have had the vouchers :) - i prefer to save in a bank account) and 20% off so only paid about 8 quid for 36 quids worth of stuff! sounds like you have had some great xmas bargains, fresian! xx
Mortgage free as of 11/11/15 !
:Anow... to start some serious saving :A

Honeybear you are indeed correct GOW = Grumpy Old Woman. I have to stop myself when I find I am mutting about the youth of today especially when I see foetuses in heels wearing tutus on a Friday night. You would never guess I was only 27 and dressed rather scandilously in my day

    Hello hello!

It's payday tomorrow, so it's time for some thoughts on budgeteering....

According to my spreadsheet I will have a surplus of £199 this month as I have cancelled some unnecessary payments and reduced the food/entertainment budgets. I'm hoping to PAD enough this coming month to account for any overspend over the festive season :A especially with the DFW meet being in December...

I'm going to pop off and quickly update my Bovine Budgeteering Challenge sheet (the one myself and moo2moo are suffering through) and see how it's looking for October...

    Evening all!

I keep having to force myself to update as if I don't I'm scared I shall slip back into Bad Ways. I'm not doing much debt-busting at the moment due to the crazy drop in income I've had, so I'm focussing on budgeting and being a Better Financial Fresian. I'm not sure it's going amazingly to be honest, but at least I'm trying. I just want Mr Fresian's money to come through so [strike] I can tax it[/strike] that we know where we are.

Today is PayDay (Hurrah!) so I got to make a PAD of over £20 which has been very unusual of late. I have sent it to my savings account but suspect it shall pay off the credit card when the bill comes in instead of being spent on real debt-busting. I think I need to try and remember where the PIN is for my Barclaycard and use that for work expenses, as it's getting too messy trying to figure out how much money on the card is mine and how much I will be getting back from work

Today I treated myself (More than once!) with my vouchers as I pay for them from my salary before it hits my sweaty little hands and I got my quarterly amount of voucher goodness today. Normally this quarters vouchers go to Xmas but today I bought some Xmas stuff (Mugs and chocs from Boots) and also treated myself to the mahoosive eyeshadow set that's the Offer Of The Week in Boots and to the new season of 24 on DVD (I heart 24 and it's unheard of for me to wait longer than the day of release for it. I really hope it comes tomorrow so I can sit in my jammies and do nothing apart from watch it!) None of these little treats have cost me anything and they make me feel happy! I will use the rest of the Boots vouchers for some stocking up on shampoo etc for the next couple of months and then the vouchers will be all gone!

Has anyone got exciting plans for the weekend? I don't!

Ooh - treats! Excellent stuff. I have a similar Boots-raiding plan myself....there is a christmas shopping evening at one of our local stores next week where they will give £12 back in points for a £50 spend. I happen to have £20 in vouchers stashed from a survey site, plus a £10 giftcard which I won in a raffle.....and a £5 No.7 voucher....so, by my reckoning, and allowing for the vouchers being effectively "cash neutral", if I buy wisely I can get £50 of stuff for an effective spend of - err.....£3? As a result of that sort of bargainous splendour there just MAY be some treats for me in there too! :D

Try to look on your temporary step from debt-busting to budgetting as an important step in your financial rehabilitation, and a vital piece of planning for your future. (Wow - it's just taken me a ridiculous amount of time to drag the word rehabilitation from the back of my brain!) That stuff is every bit as important as getting the debt gone, although I do sympathise with your impatience in wanting to be able to do more right NOW!

    Morning all!

With the change in the clocks I don't know when I was awake this morning but suffice to say it was early

I have nothing but vague plans today (Quite a bit of Farmville though!) in which I would like to tidy the house up a bit and maybe sort out the clothes in my house which are hiding all over the place. I need to be brave and sideline those that don't fit so I can give them to charity.

I also need to tidy up the kitchen so I can do my Sunday Roast later on - we have a fancy roast pork which I got in the Whoopsie section for £1.26 :D I think there should be some left from it - could this be used in sweet n sour pork tomorrow or will I poison us all?

I also have to update the Christmas present spreadsheet but I think I'm nearly done!

Right, breakfast for me, possibly while watching some Dr Who. I love lazy days!
  • I've come here for a confession. I've just spent......
