  • Hi Alex I don't normally weigh myself more than once a week, in fact not normally that often, it was just that I thought maybe yesterday I might have been on a bad fluctuation day as I was a bit heavier than expected. Really didn't expect a daily variation of more than 2lbs.

Not the scales it's you. You really do weigh different amounts at different times of day. I can vary by as much as 3lbs during the day. I've learned that a full bladder weighs about 1lb more than an empty one for example.
Always weigh yourself at the same time of day and ideally no more than once a week same time each week to get a good comparison week to week. I do it evenings while dinner is cooking usually on a Wednesday.

It was the same time of day but just 24 hours later, first thing in the morning to eliminate too much variation.

If I weight in the evening its a lot more than 2lbs different. :o;). Also, day to day, particular as the month goes on, is not a stright line done. I think the varition might be greater the heavier you are, but I don't know, I'll happily test when I'm slim. In fact, its why I weigh more than once a week, I find that the problem is I have a certain disconnect from my body, I want to reconnec with it, not try and avoid it for a week.

I'm still here, feeling a bit of pressure (I've been asked to make macoroni cheese pies (not for us, for someone else), something I've ever made before. The logical thing to do would be to try a recipe or two to ge tthe idea/see what works, but I can't tink of anyhing less good for a diet or me personally than macoroni cheese in a pastry case! (apart from the google link that showed a macorni cheese pie toasted sandwhich Thats carbs in fat, put inside carbs with fat, tosted in carbs, and fat!). So I'm thinking of winging it and crossing my fingers.

    Mmm, bit strange then.
I'd normally only see an increase like that at the end of a weekend at my in-laws where big portion sizes and deserts overflowing with custard are the norm. Takes a few days to come down from that.
  • Ew why would you put macaroni cheese in a pie??????? I love a macaroni cheese but why adulterate it with pastry, and why carbs with carbs????

Sorry but that sounds utterly revolting (I'm allergic to milk though so the thought of cheese tends to do this to me :rotfl:) Can you make some mini samples and/or borrow someone to do the taste testing for you so that you're not having to eat it yourself?

    You can, you can!

I've lost my way with my walking a bit this week, I HAVE to step it up a gear now. But I'm not giving up, I can't. :)

To answer than maceroni question, I have no idea why anyone would do this, (there are greek recipes for maceroni type pasta in filo pastry with feta cheese but this is not that) I only know I've been asked to do it to recreate a meal in I think Scotland, that was adored. Having spoken more to the person who wants it it seems to be a simple shortcrust pastry with a normal mac cheese inside. I don't think I need to taste that: I have detailed in structions not to try and ''posh it up''! But it all feel wrong!

Today we're collecting DH's new -old car (a vintage landrover) and then I hope we're going to drive in itsomewhere to go for a long dogwalk: I must now make sure I'm walking as fast as I can for at least 45 mins a day.

You get macaroni pies from chip shops, the pie part is just the same as you get on a mince or steak pie from a chipper. But it's the kind of food you only eat at 3am while waiting for a taxi, either that or the morning after the night before! On either of these occasions they taste good! I didn't know that they were exclusive to Scotland though?
  • Happy Dragon here! I managed to get to weigh in this morning and in the last fortnight I have lost 2 pounds  so still on target to lose a pound a week (which I know is less than the 7 pounds a month but as I have to do it all with diet I am pleased with that ;))
Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup :D
