Does anyone know if eating at random times has any impact on weight loss? I hope that's not as stupid a question as it seems to me but I've been really stressed out over the past week and work and personal life are both up the wall so mealtimes have gone to pot a bit (ie I've only just eaten my lunch about 10 mins ago  ) I don't want it to end up messing up the efforts I'm making.

I don't think it will make much difference, just try not to go *too* long between meals I guess xo

Morning everyone. I know I haven't been posting but I have been reading every day, some interesting things going on. Especially about only eating when hungry - how can something that sounds so simple be so hard?

You took the words out of my mouth. We all know what to do, so why can't we just do it??? I know it's not easy for me, apparently men find it easier to lose weight because they just find out what they need to do - and do it. Lucky them eh?
I don't know, but it is!

This morning I wasn't hungry, and the dieter in me, says ''eat breakfast, eat breakfast, kick start your metabolism, and the part of me trying to respond to the body is saying, ''but your stomach isn't asking for food'' and the woman in me is also saying ''if you don't eat that's no calories, don't do it''. I compromised with a skimmed milk latte. Its tricky to know which becomes most important and how much the physical signs are influenced my the conditioned emotional/false ones.

That's a lot of voices!!! :rotfl:Glad you had something though, the dieter was right. I guess the best thing to do is to have something light even if you don't feel like it, to kickstart your metabolism without too many cals.

Men dont think - I reckon thats why they find things like this easier - it always seems to be when I stop trying that it starts to come off....

A mounting block is a high thing that you stand on to make getting on your horse easier (for you and the horse - and less likely to damage your tack or the horses back by twisting it from time to time!)
Alexnickov - you ask as many random questions as you like - i love talking avbout her!! I didnt breed from her - my friend owns a stud, and its just not commercial to breed at the moment - and as she is 13 now, they decided to stop with her and find her a home where she could have fun. Cue me - who fell for her the first day I saw her !! Im very veyr lucky. Id put up a pic if I could work out how to do it - I thought I could do something for an avatar, but I cant remember how !!

Bad day with the diet today - had crisps and a double decker. BAD trudi... :(

(was nice though!!!) back to being good tomorrow....
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup

    Afternoon all

I opened an account for the calorie counting (link from 1st page), I would normally eat more in a day than I have today, but seeing it in black and white has helped me to avoid the fridge.

I have also cut the sugar out of my coffee completely (started yesterday) it's fine.

Hope everyone is well, better dash got housework to do before picking DD up from school.

Oh oh oh another pound off today. You know, I do think that lipobind is helping me increase the loss guys.
  • Ok I said last month I was going to join in, but I forgot to weigh myself on the first and then went away on business so I've only just got around to it.

I weighed in this morning at 12 stone, that gives me a BMI of 25, so not a problem but I could do with getting a stone or so off in total.

I'm not doing a specific weight loss plan, just trying to eat sensibly and reduce portions/snacking really.

My weaknesses are picking on things like cheese while I'm cooking, clearing my plate, and wine/beer!

Have just bought a slow cooker and started using it and it does discourage me from snacking while I cook as the food is pretty much ready when I get in from work. It should also mean I'm not eating so late in the day.

Hope you don't mind me gatecrashing but I'm hoping that joining something like this will motivate me a bit.

hethmar, glad to hear that it's working for you. Goldshield (makers of Lipobind) have recently brought out Appesat, an appetite suppressant. Anyone tried it? I am tempted to try it but someone recommended Cha de Bugre instead - and it's cheaper. I might give it a go. I'd rather use an appetite suppressant than a fat metaboliser - if I can see less food going in my mouth I know it's working, whereas with the metabolisers I would have no idea really! IYSWIM.

KatP, welcome! Cheese and wine are big faves of mine too, they are addictive aren't they! If you have any tips to cope with snack cravings, do share them :D

    Hi Kat,
I started out in February this year on a BMI of 25 and it's 20.8 today. Actually I started out much earlier just trying to eat sensibly etc. but it wasn't really making much difference and wasn't disciplined enough. Calorie counting made the difference, choosing foods that satisfied the appetite well but with a reasonable calorie count. I'm also very partial to wine - especially red (150 calories a glass) and beer (180 calories a pint). 3 of those and it's the same as a roast dinner in calories!!!
Since the new calorie intake habit has to go on for many months or more and life would be miserable with no wine / beer so I've been able to make room for a couple of pints or the odd half bottle of wine each week in my 1500 a day average calorie allowance (thats for a male office worker, slim build - yours could be different about.caloriecount.com can help you find out what's right for you). This should give you a 1-2lbs a week weight loss but it's not consistent and might take a few weeks to kick start.
Slow cooker sounds excellent to be able to eat as soon as you get in to avoid snacking before dinner.
Eating late in the day is only a problem if digesting food keeps you awake at night (or causes you to snack). It is a myth that eating late (such as after 8pm) somehow results in your body not digesting food properly and creating more fat. I typically eat the main meal of the day between 8.30pm and 9.15pm and have still gone from 12st 11lbs to 10st 9lbs since February.
    Good Eating.
  • Hi Tara thanks for the welcome.

Not sure I can help too much with the snacking, but I have found generally that having a decent meal helps as then you don't feel so hungry in between. I try to eat three square meals a day and not eat the rest of the time. Generally this works and I avoid snacking at work (not having any snack food at my desk and being too tight to pay vending machine prices helps!). The danger time for me is when I get in from work. It is usually about 7pm and I've not eaten since half one. I start cooking almost immediately but will often have a few slices of cheese or some olives or whatever to "keep me going" I often pick at what I'm cooking too if I have a chilli or something on the hob. As I say I'm trying to make use of my new slow cooker and I'm hoping that if my meal is ready when I get in and requires minimal work it will cut out the temptation to snack.

Beer and wine is a pure will power thing, but I do like a glass in the evening with my evening meal and so does DH, even if we are trying to cut back it is hard to resist if one of us suggests a glass.

    I'm trying though!

Nice to meet you anyway, how are you doing with your weight loss?
