Nope a 15 week old (today!) Cairn Terrier - he just got his adult whiskers last week we understand :D, when he loses all his puppy fluff he should be a cream/grey brindle colour

    Hello all!

Dragon, your new puppy sounds adorable!!! :A Boo to the steroids, you poor thing xo

huston_kw, well done on cutting down the coffee and sugars, you are doing great! Let us know how you get on without sugar. Since about the age of 21, I couldn't drink coffee or tea with sugar, bleh! Once you get used to it you won't miss it. ;)

binkyboo, (((hugs))) to you! I have been feeling the same as you, it is very hard isn't it. I've only just begun to dig myself out of the hopeless hole I was in, you can too! At least you STS, that's not bad.

jack92 - woo hoo, well done on the 4lbs!!! That is amazing. :D

hethmar, how much more do you have to lose?

I weighed in at 134.2lbs this morning so have put on another half a pound! :( But that's probably from last week's munch-fest and I am determined to reverse it. I've been really good today, although I mindlessly ate a Milky Way. No idea why! It didn't even taste that good, which pleased me. I've also had 2 squares of the dark stuff - it's 23 cals per square and I'm allowing myself up to 4 squares a day. It's far better than the crap chocolate I've been eating and the quantities of it! So here's to the rest of September! :T
Tara, yes, I'm not low carbing- I really need apples/salads/veg and often have just veg for supper, but the complex carbs I'm noticing (bread/toast/cereal) are just not satisfying me. Yesterday lunch was cereal with half a yogurt instead of milk, and I was hungry again after two hours, which I wouldn't have been after a yoghurt and and apple. All in all, yesterday I was hungry! Dh took pity on e going to bed with a rumbly tummy. I don't eat huge amounts normally anyway (and was not overly hungry on a very low calorie diet of 400 cals) so I'm trying to listn to my body on this and I'm understanding I probably do need protein in some form at every eal. I've always found drinking skimmed milk improtant when watchin wieght, and this might b why. :)

That makes sense. I might start drinking more milk.

So you would feel less hungry afer a yog and an apple than after cereal and yog? Can you cope with being hungry for some time/going to bed hungry?

Are you only eating 400 cals a day or did I misread that? Sorry for all the questions!!!

    Ask away.
No, I'm now eating more than that but was on a prescribed diet of that for a long time. :o It was ..ok..but not ideal for longterm health and mental well being. Yes less hungry after apple and yogurt.

Here's the thing about hungry: I think I've become so poorly in tune with my body that I'm not always sure what is hunger or full or thirsty or a range of things, not just diet/food related. Yesterday was interesting because I DID feel hungry. I went to bed hungry but I dn't really want to make a habit of it, I want to learn to make adaquate respnise to my body, feeding when hungry, not feeding when not. Before becoming ill and gaining weight I can't remember but I think I was probably hungry a lot.:o

The Dragon, what a cute puppy!

Thanks for the post, very thought provoking.

I kind of feel the same, I rarely feel properly hungry which is a real shame. Anytime I do allow myself to feel hungry I really enjoy my next meal. Isn't it funny how we get so out of tune with our own bodies? I think it has a lot to do with the wide availability and ridiculous cheapness of food these days. Our parents and grandparents didn't know such abundance, i wonder what they make of the modern supermarket with its 56 types of olive oil. :o

I know the Paul McKenna thread talks a lot about only eating when hungry etc, there is obviously something in it.

What were you prescribed the 400 cal diet for (tell me to mind my own business if you want!) xo

That's quite a lot to lose by January, I think you're right to be sceptical!! It'll come off though. :D

...so will be much the same again i expect. I know i am doing well to maintain the weight ...

Its great you are maintaining. For me, I'm being really selfish about this. I'm happy to cater for whatever we have going on, but there WILL always be something, especiall between now and new year someone's party, some office thing, some seasonal thing, and I feel that for me the important thing is to learn how to navigate these parts of ordinary life without putting the diet (and later maintaining) on the back burner. I don't know entirely how this is going to work out but I know that if I don't selfishly, put this diet first things might never change for me, and that scares me.:o

Do tell :D, I have discovered the side effect of a new pup in the house - no going out to the pub on a whim so that MUST help - also we will not be able to get to the 101 (okay slight over estimate :rotfl:) Festive do's - yippee! (I don't enjoy them 'cos I am so porky - no Dragon should be that pudgy, we should be lean, mean machines!)
